FMEA gas generator

What temperature does it get in and out of a cyclone, usually?
I thought about having it right after the unit.

I mounted my cyclones as close to the gasifier as possible. I’m looking at bout 500C in and 300C out of the cyclone, at the most. About 100-150C less at medium load/slow road speeds.

Thanks, then I know where to start sealing.

What kind of materials do you have in gaskets for gaps? (doors?)
Jo, caddy 88a, can you get it approved for gas?
Kristijan, do you still use the fiberglass fabric as a filter?

Sorry, newer vehicles than -75 will only be approved if total weight is >2500kg (up until 88-93 depending on model)

What a convoluted system. Here you should be able to run any vehicle on any fuel. That said, all it will take to change that is some sort of mandatory annual inspection or emissions testing. I wouldn’t be surprised if corporate interests pressed something like that any year now

Meanwhile, fingers crossed

We here in Alabama have no emissions laws and no vehicle inspection. I love it :joy:

Jo, where did you find this?
Looked this morning and found this.

It’s probably easiest to ask the “besiktningsingengör” at the station. There are tons of documents produced at “transportstyrelsen” and “naturvĂ„rdsverket”. It takes hours of googling to find the right ones.
Personally I would skip the “registreringsbesiktning” on a newer vehicle. There’s one chance in a million you’ll get pulled over by police and as long as the vehicle is legal on gasoline you’re ok. Policemen are very young nowdays  Most of them wouldn’t know what they are looking at. Worst case scenario you’ll get “förelĂ€ggande om registreringsbesiktning”. No fines involved.

Thinking about installing a fabric filter, should I put it after the cyclone, or after the cooler?

I have no first hand experiance of fabric filters, but I guess it all depends on what type fabric you’re aiming at. Standard cloth will not survive right after the cyclone due to temp and flying sparks. After the cooler the gas is wet and will probably clog a cloth pretty fast.
In Finland and here in Sweden hot filters are pretty common. High temp fiberglass fabric is used after the cyclone. Here is one way to do it.

You can’t make any changes to the engine on models after 1975, but changing the filter housing to a gas mixer should not be a problem and will not need a registration and as said you can’t even do a registration if one was needed.

You could register some minor change for e85 in newer vehicles before but I don’t know if it’s still works.

Look at any custom car magazines and 80% of all builders in it is practicaly criminals as you can’t do anything legally here in Sweden, but they drive their cars to work every day without any problems anyway.

If you get “caught” the only thing that will happen is that you will have to do a new besiktning/inspection with the “illegal” parts removed if besiktningen say so.

And as said before the police know nothing about anything,

Something like this?
Does it matter if I went in with the gas in the middle of the filter?

@Jim_H
I didn’t realize until now you’re Swedish too. Maybe something to do with when you mentioned you lived in a third world country  Whereabout are you at?

@Jan Wow, that’s a huge cyclone  Taller than the gasifier.
About the bag-in-box. Worth a try. That would eliminate the need of bracing for vacuum. Downside - maybe that you would have to take the bag out to empty it. What kind of airtight box housing do you use?

Yeah sometimes it feels like that, but that’s my subjective feelings.

Any previous builds?

Thought to let the gas in on the outside bag and take it out on top, should make insert for the bag.
The cabinet is an electric cabinet.
I bought the fiberglass fabric 15 years ago, but did not finish that time, see how it goes this time.:grinning:

Where did you order the fiberglass fabric?

Sorry, but can’t remember it.
Wondering if the fire protection blanket is the same thing I bought.

There’s a whole world of refractory material out there on the internet.
Here’s some that I bought a couple of years ago:

That should get you started in locating whatever you need.
