Back to the gasifier build, the temps are up to the 40°f 's it has been raining and the snow has melted down some.
I am starting on the inturnals of the WK build so I will not be showing it on this thread. I decided to cut all the parts out on the bandsaw because of the thin metals. I can get a clean straight cut with the barrel material I am using. For those who have made this type of gasifier knows, there are lots of parts go into the outer firetube to be welded up. This build as far as I know has not been built before so I do not want anyone to copy my build until it has been proven to work using the thinner metals.
I went out to check on the Jet Bandsaw in the wood working shed and found it needs new 14" × 7/8" tires on the blade wheels and a 93 1/2 " × 3/8" metal cutting blade 18 tpi should work, ordered up two. They are on there way through Amazon prime.

Up date, I cleared out the wood shop are of all the junk wood and burned in the the fire pit. Oh nice more charcoal for my gasifier.
May room the get the Jet band saw out of the corn and blew all the saw dust off looked at thetires and took them off the wheels. One broke in two and the other is just as bad.
Still waiting for the new tires and saw blades.
I lube up the saw blade guide bearings. I looked it over and it should be ready to go assoon as the parts get here.
Cutting the thin barrel metals will be a lot faster and making straighter cuts for the parts on the Gasifier.

Bob,
I bought a “Jet” bandsaw like that, used it a little bit, it turned into rusty junk in a short time. I bought a (small) “Jet” planer, used it a bit, it turned into rusty junk in a short time. Sensing a pattern here? Both are repairable, but should not need to have to. I bought them new, and I am not made of money. Never again.
From now on: old, worn but reliable, used, well made, thats what I want.
I got a bandsaw that looks identical to that but it is not a “Jet” brand. I have been using it off and on since the mid 1980s. I always use skip tooth blades and the blade that is in there now has a little bend that makes a noise every revolution but it won’t break and I am too cheap to replace it until it breaks.
Hi here you on rust on equipment if it is stored in a moist area it will rust. This jet is a old one. Mike Gibb found it for on his side of the wet side of the state. He fixed it up and I think I paid him $150.00 for it. He even delivered it to me driving on wood with his wood burn Ford truck. It works great.
We did get to have a Washington State Wood Gas Meet Up last year may be this year have at my place. I know we four DOW trucks in this state.
If I can get myself into DOW building every day we would have six. New would be the jeep and Subrau.
The bandsaw will help. My tires and blades came in the mail and need to put them on today.
It just started to snow but it will not last long this next week weather forcast is to be sunny and warming up, by, by snow on the ground for good this year. Spring is coming and that means more comfortable out side gasifier building. I now have 6 gasifiers to build two wood gasifiers and 4 Charcoal or wood gasifiers. Oh I forgot about about the two for generation power.

Seems like a long way til spring Bob. I’m finding it hard to work out side even in our pretty mild winter. Never used to bother me at all.
Put the tires on the band saw wheels by putting them in hot water then with my foot and hands pulling stretching tires out. Then I clamped the tire to the wheel to keep it in place while worked the tire on to the wheel, I was get them on smug and fitting tight in place. Thanks @mggibb mike for the tip on put the tires on.
Set up the blade guilds and bearing rollers and made a cut.
Free hand cut in seconds next to the cut is my plazma cuts with a guild and free hand, they took a lot longer to cut.
This will save me a lot of time cutting out barrel parts and no plazma cutting deburing clean up.
I need to make a fence to gage my cuts now to the proper measurements.
I love it when a plan comes together. Thank you Yehovah God in the highest.
Not sure if all vertical band saws are wood and metal but this Jet is design for metal cutting dry.
Get to work now Bob
You are so right Tom, the old I get the narrower the temps. Not to cold and not to hot. Some where in the middle range temps. Oh yes and no rain, wind, or dust blowing in my face.
Bob
Or snow! we are supposed to get 5 inches by noon tomorrow.
