Yeah well… Woodgassers could take something away from this. You see there were certain natural gas and producer gas engines that worked that way. It was called hot tube ignition. It was cheap, and it worked very well.

As I watched the video I was thinking he increased the size of the combustion chamber with this… What if a combustion chamber was designed for the exact compression needed for wood gas or for that matter other fuels… I have been watching a guy 3d print molds for an motorcycle engine which he casts out of aluminum… was thinking a few adjustments and he could really fine tune that thing for a specific fuel.
You can do that but you have to machine quite a few places after casting.
The composition of woodgas varies with the type of wood, engine speed, and other factors. I recommend you look into what Tone has done with his ‘Fergie’ tractor. He ended up using a distributor spark ignition and 12.5:1 compression ratio. LINK
