Looks like you are really “gettin’ it” there Gary! Are you planning on pulling your race car with your Gasser when you get it going? That would really be fun!!!
Hi Herb, They timed that just right so you would miss Argos. Maybe we should have a convoy to Nashville and fill up the parking lot at the VA. I just pulled a deer tick off my belly and taped it to the fridge. It’s the new 2014 collection. We have 8 or 10 taped up there from last year. I guess it’s really spring. I was in the woods all day … Stay well amigo … Mike
Wishing you a good trip and procedure Herb. We were looking forward to seeing you at Argos, but first things, first.
I’m just happy and thankful all of my testing came back good. I was “sweatin’ it” for a while, my PET scan in Nashville showed two lumps, that is why I had to come back home, to do a biopsy, did that and thank the LORD it came back “good” so now back to original plan. Otherwise it would have been more chemo to get back in “remission” and then I would need a “donnor” making it much more complicated and higher chance of death. So all in all I’m doing fine!!! I just have to get through this transplant! No matter what you hear about VA the very BEST Doctors in the world are working on me and I will be fine. Thanks for caring, Herb
That’s good news Herb. Was hoping to meet you in Argos but you take care of the important stuff first. I will keep you in my prayers and also look forward to shaking your hand another time

At all of those pics, I don’t know why I like old cars so much but I do. Out of all those cars and trucks there are very few that I can’t call the make model and year. I drive my wife crazy, O LOOK there’s a 35 ford or what ever it may be, never tried to learn them just did!!!
Thanks for posting Carl
Tonight I was showing a friend the “wood” truck(as my 5yr old calls it). Some other parents were curious along with many young enthusiastic onlookers. The system was cold and not running.
Wayne had mentioned the new river bridge and I happened to be on one of my southern runs heading back home today and as mentioned before i make it a point to take a rest stop there and stretch the legs. Just thought id share a photo of it. Its quite a view and testament to engineering.
I worked in that area back in 86, I liked that place so much I would spend my week ends there watching people bungie jump from it. During that time I really got to love WV. I arrived in Kingwood WV in the fall of 85, had too call the job off for then because of a Terrible flood, “The Snake” river went out of it’s banks and the place was devastated. Following year me, machine and crew from Kansas did RR bed stablelation from up there in the mountains all the way south to Huntington and Charleston WV for the CSX RR. God I love WV. Thanks for posting, that is a blast from the past for me. Herb
Thats pretty cool herb. My main location is in Kingwood. Our pellet mill and guinea pig saw mill is there. I remember some of the guys telling me about the flood. Our mill is right on the river behind Camp Dawson.
We got to Kingwood late the very night of the flood, we checked into the Heldeth motel. When we woke up the next morning the place was lite up with emergency equ, people had lost there life’s, CSX RR had tracks and trains washed into the river. We stayed there for about 3 days waiting for the RR to tell us what to do. Finally said leave your equ here and come back in the spring while they figured out what to do. Is the Heldreth motel still there? Kingwood WV is a very cool little mountain town!!!
Yes its still there. Ive stayed there a couple times on large upgrades instead of driving an hour home for only a few hours of sleep. A lot of our staff that visit to assist on projects stay there if they are local to one of our remote locations.
I was there last September for a factory acceptance test on a Kanawah silo loadout system. I tried to take a panoramic shot, but didn’t come out all that great.
Back in 86 people came from all over to bungie jump off of it, there were 100’s of people camped out in that flat area below, they came to party and jump! One of those things you knew they were not going to allow very long!!!
Hahaha My Mother was telling me about that too. Last year she went on the white water rafting tour that goes under it. She had a blast.
I have rafted that stretch a while back also. When they do high water releases in the spring it’s a hell of a ride. Nice warm water when you fall in. Way better than Maine spring trips. It was snowing one time. You have a real incentive not to fall in.
Had a swarm move into my big cotton wood tree last summer. Is there a way to entice them to move into a hive on the ground where I can make use of some of the honey awhile from now. Just wondering about the internal condition of the tree if there is a hollow in it to support a hive. Don’t want to hurt the bees
A friends parents are beekeepers just down the road from where I live ill ask them. I think I recall reading someone on this site also kept bees though my memory may be up to its tricks again.
