Ask around for old oil containers, these seem to be plentiful around me. 275 gallon, I picked these up a while back for 10$ a piece I kept 2 for my wood boiler project ( been in the works for 3 years, still haven’t started it) and gave 2 to my dad, one for pig watering, and one for a hog scalding pot when we butcher. I’m better they could be turned into a charcoal maker pretty easily
I see them for sale pretty regularly and I think the most expensive one I saw was 200$ still full of oil from a furnace system that was decommissionedYeah that’s true. Could just weld in some drum tops for loading and emptying.
Hi Joep,
You’l have to make a larger pouly at the engine to have at least 2 to 3 times more rpm on your alternator.
normal they run double the speed of the engine.
Marcus this is exactly what Kursk 1 was made from, and what the fireplace of the Kurak 2 is made of. Good (cheap) sorce for sheet steel too. My stove and most of the gasifiers are made of it.
Thanks Koen. Not so far yet. It should deliver 55 A. No measures yet. The Honda was used by the kids for a bike. I didnot check the welding, he crashed it, lucky no injury. Doing 70+ as minibike. Then the headset broke. Anyway, some parts are missing on the trotle. He sounds as choking on a load. And I dont believe it runs 3000 rpms then. Ampere and a rev meter most be somewhere here.
Thanks
I loved the North family front yard garden. When me and JO stayed at their place couple of years back l used to wake up at 5 in the morning (jet lag) and walked around the garden for a hour or two.
Who knew, 2 years from then l got my self one of those gardens as well

What brand and model alternator is that, pls?
Bosch. Self activating, no need for connecting W ( I will do that anyway for control light). Payed 75 for it, extra poulie included. On the test bench he did 55 A 2500 rpm with load. I think a nice price for it. Some explaining included. This is all new to me.
Major pipeline for the East Coast has been hacked with ransomware. Couldn’t get my reactors finished sooner. I was at home away from town and gas prices shot up 20 cents to 2.89 a gallon.
Apparently NC has declared a state of emergency among other states.
Typical Corporate Attitude: This could never happen here. We don’t need to upgrade our controls or do a security audit. Then they lock the doors after the horse is stolen. There is always a manual override, but that requires those personnel who know the old ways and have been let go or retired and not replaced. Because they have been “replaced” by automation.

Hey CodyT,
It is $3.39-3.89 a gallon here in Washington State. State taxes and adopted requirements for California-clean air standards.
And that is only the third states highest. California and Hawaii always in the highest contest.
Woodgasing inspiration always pretend your pump-gold is $4.00+ a gallon.
And yes. That can; and has; happened overnight.
Then read the fellows overseas routinely paying equivalent to $6.00-8.00 a US gallon.
And realize that could happen here within a year. Any year.
Then really get off-ass motivated.

Hello all.
I have be putting down a lot of miles on both wood burners and have seen gasoline prices going up here also . It does not bother me directly because I use very little of it but indirectly the rise will effect me also .
I have a couple of years worth of wood fuel all ready chunked, dried and stored .
HWWT
Yes, and I expect that prices go over 2 euro/l, 8 dollar/gallon befor the end of the year. We are happy with the EV, to bad there are no business vans with a normal tow hitch. Model X for work is grazy but it is allowed to pull 2200 kg. Mercedes Vito can take 1000 kg, but for 250 km??? Where do want to take that 1000 kg load I ask the dealer? The neighbour? Get real! I dont have to drive 1000 km like every diesel can nowadays but 350 km/ 200 miles in real life is minimum.
Wood is the freedom fuel!!!
Yup I told people back in the 90s when I was working as a controls engineer if you want your industrial control system safe from hackers don’t attach it to the network. You can’t hack a computer that you have to physically stand infornt of to access very easily. But everyone wants to make it easier no one wants to actually copy data to removable media. I was glad when I got out of that line of work.
But the real problem is this isn’t going to really hurt the pipeline company. They are already passing the cost off to the consumers in the end the ff industry will profit off this.
But don’t worry we are told the Tesla cars with over the air updates are 100% hacker proof. Still waiting for the day they activate full self driving cars and the hackers decide to send them all somewhere at once…
Better dont think about that. Or maybe, yes think about it more often. This thing cannot be hacked. Not bad for a cityboy, he?
And very relaxing. After a day in the car and selling bullshit, I didnt get rid of my energy and the chief didnt like the flowers anymore. Luckily it is almost dark, so tomorrow I have an excuse.
A Russian high-pressure is wisking Mediterranean heat up from Kristijan’s neck of the woods.
We’ve had a cold spring so far. Today is first time this year temps hit 60F and buds are finally bursting on early species.
It’s never too late to learn something new. Thought I better give it a go now before it’s too late. I doubt that I’ll get too far, but that’s OK. Really have the right instructor.
I’ll be missing for about five days because of chemo.
The Great Waldo Pepper…errrrr I mean Davis.
Git it done!
Jeff,
Having a good flight instructor that you feel comfortable with is Key!
Good for you! Have fun!!
A whole nother perspective. Try to fly early mornings…smooth air!
