Summer is over before it really started. This is what happened yesterday in the south.
The fire Season is getting bad here. Last week a fire up in the dry wheat land burned south east of us. They finally got it out. Yesterday this wild fire started west of us over by Cashmere, it burned all night with winds moving it east bound. Thousands of people evacuated. Hundreds of homes sunny slope area and orchards threatened by the fire.
The Burch mountain is going up in smoke. The famous Ohme gardens and homes in that area are evacuated. This is just two miles across the Columbia river from us.
Praying to Yehovah God for all the fire fighters safety and people on that side of the river.
Just to the left of the post is Ohme gardens on the other side of the hill is lots of homes. This is looking west.
This is Burch Mount and the mountains where the wild long horn sheep range.
This is looking north up the Columbia River. A lot more homes and orchards a long the river on both sides. YEHOVAH help us all, especially those in the fires path.
Let there be no lives lost for Your Name Sake.
Bob
On the top of Burch Mountain there is standing timber and a big communications station in the middle of the timber.
The hills and mountains around it all had standing timber at the turn of the century when Wenatchee was being built and being settled. They cut it all the trees down and it never grew back. It took hundreds of years if not thousands of years for the trees to grow, but even back in the 1800’s the climate had change in this area to a dryer area aired zone. When the trees were clear cut and logged off. They were gone for good. The state and BLM land above it is where there were still trees. Well maybe they are still there.
That blacken smoke is trees burning up. There is one home up there just below the state/BLM lands. They are trying to save it with a water dumping bag from a helicopter. The picture did not pickup the helicopter going into the smoke.
Everyone on the other side of the river from us is on standby evacuation alerts.
I going out to start up the motor home just in case we have to leave everything behind.
The fire is just about to crest the top and move down to the Columbia River area.
Bob
Bob, I just prayed, in YEHOVAH’s name, to watch over you, your loved ones and neighbors.
Keep us posted, please.
Bob
Sure wish some of this rain would move your way !!
I started my first cutting of hay about two weeks before Argos and has been two wet to finish . It seems to rain just about every day .
Please stay safe , we are thinking of you and yours .
Thank you Brother Jeff we need it.
Ohme Gardens
Next door the fire there is a big bulldozer on the hill side making a fire break and lots of men and women working to save houses and land. The mountain in the back ground burned last night.
The hot embers are causing fire flare up in front of the fire line. Right below is the world famous Stemilt fruit warehouses where fruit is ship all over the world. We now have 4 water dumping helicopters and 1 plane working this fire trying to stop it.
Bob
Here is a up date: it looks like they stoped the fire moving south Ingo Ohme Garden area with all the houses. Now the fire is moving down to the industrial complex where boxes and packing factories, lumber yards. Car lots, and packing houses are located. Keep praying. It is not over yet. Our Heroes The Firefights need our prayers. YEHOVAH stop the wind from blowing in your words Yeshua Name.
Soaking the back wooden deck and carpet down all back yard sprinkers are running. I put a sprinker on the DOW fuel piles too.
Bob
Wow, that is for real. I hope everyone stays save.
We see fires a lot in Croatia. Very frightning. Stay save you all.
Stay safe Bob. We had that kind of summer 3 years ago. No fun.
I read you packed and soaking everything down. Don’t forget take extra of the one and only from the book Dakota. We wouldn’t want it to go up in flames.
92 Dakota from the book will have to stay if we have to leave. I sure it will be all right it is always hauling a fire in the bed anyways.
The wind right now is in our favor. Not so for the people a couple miles north of us, they are in the thick black smoke and hot cinders coming across the river. I am glad the house has a metal roof and metal siding on it but all around the house is dry trees and grass, and wood piles. Even my out builds are metal. Only the chicken coop is wood with a assault roof.
Thank you JO for your thoughts a prayers.
Bob
Yes it is so real. We have fires like this every often is the pass 15 years. The last one burn up many homes in Wenatchee just off the Wenatchee River. No life’s lost so far thank God.
Bob
You and everyone here both. Wayne. This has been the hottest driest summer we have had in a long time. Thank you for your thoughts and prayers.
Bob
Prayers for all of you up there Bob. Stay vigilant, those embers can really travel.
Look the wind is calming down. Who ever asks YEHOVAH God He will hear You. Ask according to His Word Yeshua and it will be done for you. Thank you all for praying. DOW members will be Blessed. The fire battle is not over it is still up in the trees of Burch Mountain and in the valleys. The fire fighters are winning now the wind is dying down. Thank you Yehovah In The Highest. The helicopter and plane pilots have been non stop for 8 hours now.
Also the firefights on the ground even longer some all night.
Yes Levi, some of our friends lost homes in the last big fire we had a few years back because of flying embers landing on their roofs. Down town Blue Bird fruit packing burned and a recycling yard business. We thought Wenatchee was going to burn up. God saved the down town area, through the people fighting those fires. Just beause one person lighting a fire by his car by the Wenatchee River. Millions of dollars of properties up in smoke.
A friend of mine Vern, just commented on FB that he lost his house in the last big fire across town. He rebuilt in a new location this fire was just above Sunny slope where he lives now. The fire went right by his house above him on the hill side slope. Sunny Slope is on the back side of the pictures above. Hundreds of homes and orchards back there.
Bob
Bob I will continue to pray for your family’s and town’s safety and that it will rain soon.
Yes, Now that will be a miracle, thank you.
No lives or structures were lost from what I have heard. The big retardant dumping jets are here and working in the forest up in the mountains trying to keep the fire from moving North to Entiat. Dana’s daughter and her son are spending the night here, the road is closed to Entiat where they live.
Spent most of the day watering the place down. Dana could not sleep last night a did the fire watch last night so I will be up late to night so she can get a good night sleep.
Thank you all again for your thoughts and prayers, I appreciate very much.
The fire did burn all the way down to the mighty Columbia River in places, and as far as I know it did not jump the river.
Bob
Sorry to hear about your fire threat. That is so close and you are pretty much at the mercy of the weather.
The fire on those tinder dry hills with mostly grass and shrubbery moves at nearly the wind speed.
I have worked several 1 year projects in Wenatchee and watched the hills on both sides of the Columbia river turn black in 1 day.
I never would have believed that the burning embers can jump across the 1/4+ mile wide river. That has happened several times.
We just had a brush fire less than 5 miles from our place. We heard a couple fire engines go by, and when we smelled the smoke my wife looked it up on social media. I found a place where you can listen to the emergency frequencies online, so I sat and listened to the firefighters for a while. It ended up burning about 8 to 10 acres before they put it out.
Its been a crazy summer already, with severe drought and record smashing temperatures. It got up to 115F at our place back in that heat wave in late June. I am trying to do a bunch of fire-proofing around here in case we get another repeat of last fall. I am going to do some experiments with borax-based fire retardant that you can spray on wood to make it fire resistant. I will post a video tomorrow when my samples dry. From what little I have seen online, it seems fairly promising.
Anyway, hope you all are staying safe. Dont forget to keep your giant stash of firewood/motor fuel a good distance from your house

Seems like it works pretty well. I would not suggest treating your clothes in it and running into a burning building or anything, but to prevent embers from lighting my deck on fire, I think it will help.
After dragging my feet for almost two months I finally went to get a new tag for the Buick and got the title changed over. Might try to see about how I can turn off the injectors and fuel pump. Now that I can drive it outside my neighborhood I’ll see what’s causing the weird shifting into 2nd gear. It’s not as bad as it was since I’ve changed half of the fluid and added lubegard and lucas atf additive.
Edit:
Found the fuel injector and the two fuel pump fuses. Looks like the air filter housing has a single circular opening towards the fender-well. Aluminum intake and sequential port fuel injection. The pluses keep adding up! Maybe I’m crazy but I gave the car a spin after letting it sit almost a month and it seems to be shifting a little better.
Hello JoepK.
Our news says 69 so far confirmed dead in the western European flooding’s.
I hope you and your family are not being affected.
How will this impact later food prices and availability?
Regards

Yes, I am ashamed I posted that video. Things are out of control. In Belgium chaos is bigger and in Germany people got surprised in their homes. Water raising several meters in minutes I heard. No joke. What you guys seme to miss with the fires, we got over here.
Fortunely we live down stream in a flat area. The last decade there has been done a lot of work to give room for the water. I never saw it beeing used, and that is good. So, we are not afraid, thank you. It is in the hilly area where there is to much rain, more in one day what normally is in 30 days of july. It has to go somewhere. Unreal, no foodsupply, evacuations, almost 400 families out of power, this never happens here. This is climate change I believe, it will happen more and more. Well, we are used to fight the water and most of the time we win, not always.
Only working the last weeks and missed all the news, now and then something comes in on the radio in the car or my phone. For the rest happy to sleep, when I am not working.
