The Robins can’t find the lawns for the snow…so they are eating the red sumac berries.
Cody,
That looks like a monocrystalline panel. They are the best you can get right now. That’s prolly the best price you can get with shipping and all. Congratulations!
PS you might as well buy a bag of those MC4 connectors so you can start building cables.
Speaking of more electric things.
Finally have some in between time to finish up my electric stretch cruiser. Micargi Seattle SS frame that I put a chrome monark Springer fork on. The ebike rear wheel is a direct drive, but what it lacks in hill climbing it makes up for in top speed and heat sinking. I could probably run the motor hotter than the 750 watts that I have as the controller. If I was more literate in it I could shop around for a 1500 watt controller in 36 volts. Get some more torque going on, maybe find one with Field Weakening to have a higher speed.
I have the rear brake installed just need to find a front wheel with a disc brake hub, thought about using a Sturmey Archer Dyno hub to generate voltage for a headlight.
Right now for a battery I have 4 hoverboard/balance board 36v packs ran in parallel, my headway pack only had 8ah and that wouldn’t get me far and frankly was overbuilt for the bike. With the hoverboard packs I should have 1760mah provided the BMS in each one cooperates and doesn’t freak out from multiples in parallel.
Maybe someday I’ll build an electric motorcycle with the cheap AliExpress LiFePo4 packs. QS Motor makes really good hub motors for that, a guy on the Motorized Bicycle Forum made basically a heavy duty bicycle or light weight motorcycle with one that had a top speed of 75mph, built with the spimo pouch cells. He made banana connector taps off the battery for frame welding repairs.
This is how I imagine you look Cody. If you start anymore projects you are going to have to grow more arms.

A MUST, for the woodgas-driving gentleman
Been on a ferry trip Göran?
Is that where you picked up covid?
Ha, ha,no no ferry trip, i use to buy these at Cloetta factory outlet, it’s only around 30 miles from where i live.
The covid i don’t know where i got, it’s hard to tell, when almost everyone seems to have a flu, coughing and sneezing around here.
Hey hey hey, this is a long standing project being done
Cody makes big circles and comes around to projects eventually.
I do that. The electric golf cart took 12 years. Buying the 15kw Kohler took 15yrs. That Ford 300 six took 15 yrs. The DD 453 septic truck took seven years. Let’s not even talk about the apple orchard…thats on the forever plan.
It’s funny how my projects take a long time but my wife’s projects have to be done immediately. I definitely do not know how that works.
Not to mention I have some kind of Locational Dementia. If someone moves it I’ll never find it again. I like my controlled chaos. Someday I’ll try to organize my shop, I got a couple filing cabinets for free from my work, and my dad’s Kennedy toolbox, and his old MatCo toolbox. Would be nice to do welding indoors when it’s raining. Or even park my truck in there.
I might try to relocate all of my junk from the front of the shop to just behind it. I need to show off Grandpa’s old 50s Chevy truck bed trailer anyhow. Now THAT would be a funny conversion trailer. “Well, everyone puts theirs in a truck bed so I wanted to fit in.”
Yep yep yep yep yep yep, and then real dementia kicks in and you cannot remember where the h#&&! You put anything!
To avoid this I only reorganize a little at a time. Do not do the complete shop or work area. I have working on reorganizing this now for over 12 years. Lol
Bob
I dont let that dimentia get me.
Saves a lot of time at the end of a job and no tools lose in a box anymore. Payed some one, that hurts. But I forgot and this makes me happy every day.
Bought the inlays a few years ago and never found the time to finish. I hate unfinished projects. They occupy my brain.
Cody, or anyone, can you recommend a reliable controller for a 48 v batt, 1,5 kW motor? My son wants to rebuild his mountainbike with these gasprices.
Does he already have a motor? The best suggestion I could give is to check eBay and buy a controller with all new throttle and stuff. Connecting to the motor is no big deal but I always have the hardest time finding controllers that match my current throttle and brake levers.
Make sure it’s in a bundle deal, different factories use different connectors.
Edit: forgot to mention, invest in a waterproof bag made to fit on the bicycle for the controller and battery. Will help keep humidity away from the controller.
Well it seems this snowing conditions some of you have reported is contagious:
Ha! Ha! And I have removed all of the winter studded snow tires last week by law.
Last week I burnt off 4 gallons of gasoline yards and old near cow pastures mowing for 8 hours on two separate days.
Yes.Yes. Snowing now.
My fault.
I mowed. I teased old father winter awake from his slumber.
Now how to get 25 miles down to a scheduled MRI full head scanning, eh?
Have to tell the wife to dust off her witchy magic wand (some Stupids accuse her of having), I suppose.
Oops, no. She might just whisk me down, and leave me there.
Regards
Steve Unruh
we had the same at our place Steve, but Sunday was very nice out for the most part and I got to see a good number of my stepdads front yard visitors
I couldn’t quite make out what those little guys were, ducks and babies?
I now have a momma goose sitting on a nest on the roof of my wood shed. She very seldom flies down to the pond for a drink
Can’t wait for some goslings. Her partner hangs out in my front yard and pond all day and night. He also defends the corn I feed each day.
Michael, I saw them as wild grouse.
Or, quail?
I was trying at first to make #3 into a wild turkey. Wrong neck?
S.U.
If I were to get one of those scans they would have to put my head in a diaper first, Steve. It’s all full of infantile crap that’s always leaking out.
Coworker is giving me his old diesel tanks. Two steel tanks off his Winder Binder semi truck. Swapped them for aluminum tanks for a restoration.
He’s a tinkerer and hotrodder like me. Has a Corvair powered VW Beetle. If you’ve ever seen the video of a guy swapping a generator belt off a running VW with a screwdriver that was him.
Posting these mostly for Tom I know he loves his rat rods.
