Life goes on - Summer 2022

Hi Nicolas.

The CO is ofcorse a serious factor to concider, but can preety much be eliminated if done correctly. Nice thick gasifier walls and everything except the lid, welded gas tight. No seals and silicone smeared junctions. The lid shuld be as small as possible, a diameter of 15cm is enaugh for charcoal. Less lid, less seal, less possibility of leakage.

The real problem comes with heat and space limitation. Gasifying a vehicle is hard. Gasifying a inkognito car like that is 10 times harder. Just saying. Wish you sucsess!

I’d pass on that truck as well Cody. Whose Jeep is that? I’d rather build off that.

It’s my buddy’s, I already sold it back to him, gonna build a charcoal burner for it.

You mean pass on the 92 Ford?

pass on the Dodge. Not enough meat on that bone.

Gotcha, yeah. I figured to get the 92 because I don’t need inspections for a 30 years old vehicle. No snooping lubetech inspectors to fail my safety for mirror obstruction or some malarkey.

Edit: Rapscallion sold it from under me after he agreed to show it to me right after my shift was over. The search continues.

Good morning Cody.

From what you have shared with us about the dodge ram I believe I would let someone else have it.

the 4.9 is a very good engine, lots of torque. They do a lot better with a manual trans. especially if 4x4. I think it would do well on wg. won’t break any speed records. I wood gassed a five . eight, it ran really well on wg.

I’ll keep that in mind, guy sold it before I could even look at it. I’d really prefer a manual transmission for Woodgas.

Edit: found a 73 F350 manual transmission flatbed Dually, with a 390 V8. Asking the guy for more details. Real low price but it’s got a new tag so it’s been on the road recently. A bit big but hopefully not too heavy. Definitely looks fun to drive. Probably impractical for woodgas though. Heavy and conspicuous.

A coworker’s dad has an F150, V8 manual but they’re looking for a replacement truck first so that might be a while.

The search is finally over after much heartache.

I’ve secured, locked down, handshake agreed on a 1976 GMC Sierra ClassicLong Bed. Has some rust but what old Chevy doesn’t. 350sbc, automatic.

Has some dinky alloy wheels but that’s whatever.

2500 dollars. Paying him Monday and taking it home on a flatbed. Has about 90,000 miles on it.

1985 gmc Scottdale 3/4 ton 2wd 350/700r4 500$ with blown head gasket
1981k10 shortbed 350/th350 in parts and wrecked delivered on a trailer to my house, free

1971 c10 half ton long bed 2wd 350/ 4 speed running driving rusted 500$
72 c20 2wd 3/4 ton long bed 350/th350 price was if i can make it run i can have it, 20$ for a ignition lock and cylinder, used battery and drive it home

Just couldn’t hold out for a good truck could you? :zipper_mouth_face:(kidding) Hope it works out for you.

Square bodies have always been high out here because people either restore and flip, or it’s their pappy’s truck and THEY KNOW WHAT THEY GOT or whatever.

After much heartache Cody? Did somebody run over your puppy with one of those trucks? :sob: :sob:

The nice thing about that era Chevy is that all the body panels are readily available. Even patch panels. Congratulations .

The heartache was getting ready to buy a couple things and they get sold from under me. Glad I’m getting this one though for the exact reasons you said.

Edit: here’s a pic of the truck

Rockers are in good shape it’s really just the driver’s door skins and the floors.

Dad says the Chevy equivalent would be a Custom Deluxe

I spent an enjoyable day over at my neighbors place . Plenty of things to look at . Also seem like every porch, shed and shade tree there were some picking going on

Nice truck, Cody :+1:
How are the cab corners? In salty Sweden they rust first of all.

What Tone said. Interesting and much appreciated.

Cab corners are good, rocker panels and all that is just fine. There’s a bit on the front of the bed, the doors, and the floorboard.

Edit: I think the best part is I got him to come down just a little bit on the price, so I have about 1000 dollars to have for repair panels and WK components. I’ll probably have to schedule a day off but I’ll stop by the scrapyard.
