Leaving tomorrow. We dont follow news, if it is important it comes to you. Shit, this is very sudden and local? I thought your rainy days were over? You had your share with hail and crops, doesnt it never stop?
I walk in a coat I only wear during winter. Strange summer. Not as bad as in your place but no summer either.
Edit, i googled the news. The two dutch man my father was talking about werent rafting, their camp site flooded.
Well local is a delicate word here, since our country is just about 200km across. But yes norhern country got poured on, then all the water swept everything in its path towards the south runing down the Alpes. And its raining crazy right now with no sigh of stoping soon
They were rafting here?
Hmm strange times indeed…
time to buy some grains. The price for barley is still good but with a lot of corn destroyed will probably increase the price a lot. Otherwise we might need to go vegeterian for a while…
My cousin finally got his own baler and cutter. Now we aren’t beholden to other guys with equipment. We lost this past hay harvest because of people lollygagging. Had to bush hog the field and let it lay to green manure.
He has his own field right next to ours, but we let him mow our field for hay to feed all his horses. Funny thing, horses eat almost twice as much hay as cattle. Luckily he had two good harvests last year so he was only recently getting low. Not really enough pasture to graze consistently.
Next harvest is coming up soon, should be a good one. The field seemed to benefit from chop and dropping.
I usually pay attention to the European weather map and try to figure out what you are doing at the moment, Kristijan. For the past month it seemed all the rains took the northern path - dumping it at us. I completly missed this one. Stay safe and ride the storm out. After rain comes sunshine (and mud).
Yes, ups and downs. Only if you are stuck in the down right there it really sucks.
A friend of mine wanted to go to Sweden this year but didnt because of the weather. Overhere it is raining for a month now. Before that it was totally dry and hot. Strange summer.
Our route is Passau, Graz, Maribor and Zagreb. If we take the right turn in Venlo I can tie up the steering wheel and is one or two turns and straight to the south. It seems we avoid the missery.
Did you have some rain in Dalarna Jo? We had 40mm in a couple of hours the other day, i sure don’t need to be careful about sparks flying when doing welding in my basement shop…
You bet. Almost every day for a month. Yesterday it was pouring all day. This morning the sun showed for a moment and we spent a couple hours picking moldy raspberries. Now it’s pouring down like crazy again. Thunder and lightning to the west.
Luckily I parked the Volvo inside this morning and can do some maintence undesturbed (from both rain and emptyhanded, talkative walkbyers)
Haha, excellent! I will have to order and start wearing one of those every day
I think we are still a long way from wood gas clothing here. 332 million and I would bet not a hundred thousand who have a clue about the subject. Had it not been for Mother Earth News back in the day that would be about 10 thousand.
I am happy to hear that you guys are ok, living on a hill has its upsides.
I hope there is no risk of mudslides at your place, I mean if there is more uphill left from your place and up?
I wish you and your family some good luck. It looks pretty bad from the 3 videos I looked at.
I don’t know how much grain prices will rise, since they are globally traded commodities. However, people will have to spend money for it when they weren’t planning on it.
Things like fresh veggies, will be at a premium. Meat will probably be on the rise. And scavenged materials may be easier and cheap to find so a greenhouse, or hoophouse materials might be free. Property might be cheap. And honestly, soil rebuilding could be pretty lucrative.
With every disaster creates new opportunities.
We are having all over the earth volcanoes erupting this is putting a lot of ash into the atmosphere the news media is silent on this. So much for man causing the greenhouse effects. Man is no match for what Almighty God can do and what He allows to happen on His earth He created. The YEHOVAH states this over and over again in the bible man thinks he knows, but God has a way of silencing man in all of his works.
YEHOVAH says call to me for help and I will hear you. Where I live we are having more fires all around us smoke in the air. I am calling out loud daily to YEHOVAH for protection.
I think your summer drifted this way-USA- hottest summer on record for arizona state-110 and 115 f for like about 4 or 5 weeks in row. it has been hotter than long time clear up hear in michigan state ware i live- it might be a strange winter in certain areas of USA-- most likely elninal- or they ar saying the oceon is hottest on record- and thay makes the weather patturns shift around more.
WE have had poor quallity air clear over hear in michigan nearly the other side of our country-most of summer- some days and times fair air quallity according to accu weather any way. Massive flooding in china and clear over in slovonia-I agree nothing compares to the ALLMIGHTY GOD THE FATHER-/ father son and holy ghost. And its all forcast in the holy bible of the end times- MOST of the worst events of nature happen after the RAPTURE- or the babtist beleive in pretrib rapture.?
A little dry at times but I can’t complain about the weather here this year. Only a few days in the higher 80’sF and usually somewhere in the 70’s or low 80’s. I don’t think we have had a 90. Humidity has been pretty bad though and yes, the smoke has been a drag. Very few deer flies or bugs in the garden though. Usually we have swarms of each. I’m blaming chemtrails as usual but not really crying about the dearth of bugs.
I might be me just feeling the heat more than usual- though got quite a few days 86 f to 92f and with humid it had a feels like numbers 98 f for the most of the worst weather- I am loving this mild weather we been getting this last few days though-I am ready for some summer fall weather change.
QUESTAIN- Do any one here on DOW know if any one has run a 2 cyl generator consistantly off the wood gas design gasifier from the book gasifiers builders bible.THANKS Maybe STEVE UNRUH-??
Hi Kevin,
I know of three V-twin electrical generators been done.
Consistently? No. Not really. Engine generators this size loaded down consume ~1/2 US gallon of gasoline an hour.
So make that at least 10 pounds of dried fuelwood chunks an hour. Two, four hour cycles a day that’d mean having to make up and supply ~80 pounds of wood chunks a day.
Fella’s choke at that after a week or so. Ha! Why I in my beginnings I wasted couple of years trying to gasify stove wood length sticks unchunked. Possible. But makes more heating than fuelgas.
Here is the video of Dean Lasso running his book build on chunks:
Ask him directly about his running times.

Steve Unruh
