Hey, Mike,
I’ve been feeding my stove and my neighbor’s. Keeps me going, ha, ha. 16 below last night and more cold on the way. Slacked off on my projects for a bit. Time for me to kick my butt and get fired up again.
Regards, Pepe
Hey Carson .
That must have been a big shock !!
I once left my truck in the airport SHORT TERM parking lot accidentally for a few days. WOW , it was almost like trying to bail someone out of jail to get my truck . Shock , shock
Didn’t cost anything to park but cost an arm and leg to get it out of the parking lot .
Temp says 20 on the stat, feels like20 below,as my hand took good 10 minuts to thaw when i only shovel 'ed few minuts,a walk path to garodge, strange kind of cold this morning 2-18-15+10:00 AM PS calling for 22 below zero friday morning, two degrees colder than the last elcliper.MICHIGAN OUT OF OUT DOORS.
5:55 on this old You Tube clip shows town gas tanks that I remember seeing in a nearby town as a kid. These tanks I believe had a water seal and the tanks raised up as gas was pumped in and the weight of the tanks provided the pressure to distribute the coal gas around town.
Hi Don, I remember when they started switching from “town gas” to so called natural gas … They still used the same towers … We had some large tanks right near where I would set crab traps with my grandfather … Bruce Jackson is the only person I know that has experimented in recent history with this method of storage … You can find his stuff on youtube … I can’t do youtube here so can’t swear by it … Look for budasdad there or similar … He ran a gasifer and used an old compressor to pump the gas into a propane tank floating in a drum of water to run his house stove to cook … Mike
Very interesting Don. Where did you live when you seen these? Were they for smaller towns? I guess I didn’t realize they were gasifying coal in the US.
Thanks Don,
Years back I can remember seeing something very similar around Birmingham. I never knew what they were,
Wayne, y’all get much snow. Here in E.Tenn. we managed to have ice, then snow ,then more snow. I’m startin’ to see what the yankees go through !
carson
Morning Carson
" Wayne, y’all get much snow. " Enough to make me want to move south !
Hi Wayne, We got another 4 last night … Was a tough drive back from Milwaukee … Your’s will melt soon but we have to wait a while … Mike
Only in the winter, hick out around end of june.
that’s funny wayne we call that a frost a light one at that.
Hey Wayne. Seems like you have had two winters with snow since DOW has been around. I can imagine that woodgas just likes the dry air irregardless of the cold temperatures. How do you keep from sliding on the truck bed? I have a hat just like yours. I’m keeping it away from Sean French.
Hi Wayne, It’s 6:44 and zero degrees here … I see you got some frost there … Enjoy it while it lasts … It’s free fertilizer as the electrically charged snow puts nitrogen in the ground … You’ll have to cut hay early this year … LUV, Mikey …
Hello Paul and Doug.
The ground had frozen , thawed then lot of rain just at the freezing point and a little snow on top . The ground is like a big wet sponge.
Doug you better .hide your hat . Sean likes them
This is cold at 15 below here in the cold belt, the older i get the more i see why the retire’es go south, even though the economy went south, then mexico, china and indea, stay warm regaurdless. SWEM .
Hi Wayne, Joan has hopefully landed in Abudabi by now to change planes on her way to Shanghai. It was 20 below all night and is finally back up above zero in the sun … I walk to the post office next … No point in starting a truck … Mike
Mike ,
Tell Joan I said hello . She was just a teenager when I saw her last ,
With those temperatures you are talking about I had to put my coat on just to finish reading your post
Wayne, Last I heard Joan had been in Abudabi for 2 hours so I suspect she is back in the air to Shanghai … I think she’s supposed to be there around 11 PM our time … whatever … Crazy kids … She’s hoping to get out of debt … I don’t know why she got into debt but that was her choice … M
