Life goes on - Winter 2014

Tried this as it’s own topic, but kept getting rejected. New photo limits, why and how to deal with them.

Hi Chris, Most folks don’t have a clue what the internet is … I’ve been working with computers since 1968 … As I am typing I’m on 75 meters talking with old friends and bouncing off the ionosphere … I have some of those old TRS80’s and the such around here. I bet they still fire up and my wife keeps wanting me to get rid of my old TV sets but that is what they need … Hard to explain to her but I have many very useful programs on casette tapes to be loaded into them etc etc etc … We think everything is improving but we are becoming more and more and more vulnerable as time goes on … What else can I say … Sure I have cable across the the street but I don’t live here and my house is 700 feet down the hill and sure I have access to broadband at the trailer and I have accumulated a few satelite disks and could dongle a signal down the hill but I can’t afford to have all that stuff hooked up to look at videos … Guess we’ll see where it all goes … One day there will be a poof and only vacuum tubes or wood will work … Thanks amigo … C ya soon, Mike

Thanks for jogging my memory. To us old Commodore 64 users they were called the trash 80 but that’s like arguing fords and Chevy’s. They used the 8080 processor or was it the 8088? Store them tapes in a ammo can. Stay warm .

Looks like there is another gasifier on the road . It would be nice if they could make the trip to Argos for the gasifier gathering and film the trip

That’s the second TV show featuring a gasifier in the last, what year? - 18 months?

Hello Chris et al,
Microsoft Windows has a program called Paint that comes on Windows free. Here’s a link on how to use it.

Microsoft Windows-Paint
How to Use

Hey Everybody’
I thought I’d run through a resize in case your not familiar with Paint.
Whoops, can’t remove this pic. Next post is OK.
Pepe
Just tried and succeeded in removing the pic.

The last photo wasn’t supposed to print(and that’s no bull) and I couldn’t remove it or post the real pics to match the dialogue. I’ll try here, Ok It worked, now I’ll try to add the dialogue again.
Pic 1 is the original image at a camera setting of 1600 x 1200
Pic 2 I drew the 1600 x 1200 rectangle. Then I drew the 40% x 40% rectangle as a trial size.
Pic 3 Open Paint’s main page
Pic 4 Click on file, then open
Pic 5 This page allows you to navigate to your picture
Pic 6 Highlight and open the picture
Pic 7 This is how big the file is in Paint, 1600 x 1200 is huge
Pic 8 click on image, then resize/skew
Pic 9 The resize/skew menu opens with the horiz and vert @ 100%
Pic 10 Enter your resize choice. Click OK. I chose 40% for both for a trial. Keep the values so they
share the hypotenuse as in Pic 2
Pic 11 You now have a 124 KB image
Pic 12 …and it looks like this
Pic 13 Now you want to click on Save As
Pic 14 Select Save as a JPEG from the drop down menu and
Pic 15 rename it by adding resize to the original IMG number and click save. In your original folder
you will now have a copy of the original image and the resized image.
On the paint main page just click file, open again and it will bring you to the original files to make another choice, etc to the end. These 16 files take up a total of only 1.26 MB.
Hope this helps.

Test Post.

Last week schools and businesses were closed because too much ice on the roads but today a lot warmer. I noticed the cattle doing a lot of grassing and the grass begging to green up.

I ran a little over a hundred pounds of wood through the Ram V-10 today :yum:

Spring has sprung! Rain washed the snow away, and the sun’s shining. So I got out to start a spring project. Stone walkway from DOW headquarters to the main house.

All the rock you see here was dug from our own backyard when they redid the sewer system a couple years ago. I’ve been putting this off awhile…

Last weekend I was told by all the media ( TV, radio and the news paper ) to manipulate my clocks and I would receive an extra hour of daylight. I did so and after a very close study of the sunrise and sunset I have come to the conclusion my day is no longer than it was this time last week . However I have noticed it has had some negative effects on my chickens . They seem to have gotten lazy and are an hour late about their morning crowing !!

Hey Mr. Wayne; I’m sorry I missed you this past week. I went south to get out of the frigid cold of Wi. Planed to stop at the Micro Car Museum in Madison and then stop by your place just to say “hey”. I got to Paduca and ran into the snow storm. The storm had gone through better than a day before so when I was warned about the roads ahead I ignored them. In Wi. one day and the roads are “clear”. Wow! When I got to where they were “trying” to clear the road, they had one road grader that could sort of cut the packed snow and then five pickup trucks with snow blades, pushing the snow to the edge of the road. I got to Birmingham at 4:30 and it took me 'till 6: 30 to get thru there. I got a room and next morning headed straight south to Mobile, Ala. May be another time TomC

Very good deal on a very good welder. Anybody in the LA area, pick this one up.

Hello Mr. Tom,

Wish you could have made it by and we could have spun around on the ice a while in the wood burner .

Last week was very strange for us and shut just about everything down. I understand there were hundreds of travelers just north of Birmingham that had to spend the night in their vehicles on the road. . No ice this week but plenty of rain and mud. Just to feed my cows I have really rutted up my pasture just putting out hay . The grass is getting green so hope I wont have to feed as much the next few weeks .

A trip into town this morning to pickup some rock guards for my hay mower . The trip there and back cost very little in the way of fuel . Any saving on fuel is a big help because if you are buying farm machinery it seems no mercy is shown .

$700 is laying on the tail gate !!
