Life goes on - Winter 2021

I was reading Cory’s thread about the Marvel Mystery Oil not mixing with Alcohol and it reminded me of something I have often thought about. Without gasoline how can you run something like a chainsaw. I don’t know how a oil injector works for a two stroke but something like that would be necessary to run an engine on a chainsaw on any alternate fuel. I think Alcohol is mostly a PITA but with no other home made fuel alternative it could be the only option. More inclined to fit a small propane cannister some way. I heat totally with wood and I’m way to old to break out the old cross cut saw. I know a lot of you are fans of electric saws run off small gensets. Because of my terrain that would be more PITA.

Old school snowmobiles have oil injection, ran off engine vacuum to a small pump. Couple older chainsaws we’re the same way, I’m sure it could be adapted. I would be inclined to build a 4stroke chainsaw if push came to shove and I couldn’t get gasoline to run the saws. Probably hate it because my old huskys and sticks have been so good to me for so many years but it would get ya by enough to make firewood

I know Honda makes a 4 cycle string trimmer. I’m wondering if it has enough power to run a saw.

I have ran that Honda…no bueno. No power no torque no rpm. It sits in the shed while the echo gets used

I had to go back through a lot of bookmarks to find this. Can’t believe it’s still available. I think it’s about 12 years old. I been thinking about this for a while.

I’m sure you could figure out a dripper mechanism or a super tiny jet that sucks oil in with the fuel. Would have to keep the chainsaw vertical though I guess with a dripper.

I do know you can blend 2 stroke oil with E85 at least. Haven’t tried E100

I think that getting a chainsaw to start with either e85 or e100 would be a real trial Cody. Alcohol does not like cold. You would certainly have to keep the saw warm before cranking it. I’ve never tried to start one with ether. Of course this isn’t as much of an issue for you hill Williams.

I will tell you one thing about 2 stroke E85 is it smells like an old car with a poisoned catalytic converter. Smells awful. I think most 2 stroke oils are different from MMO even though both are an ashless oil. Might be time to hunt for a 4 stroke chainsaw.

I’ve been wondering just what the heck do these books mean when they say it has a sisal filter.

Finally looked it up and it’s a palmy plant. I have it growing in my backyard like a weed, we know it as yucca from the Spanish word for the plant. Makes great rope.

I guess they just take bundles of the yucca fiber and use that instead of hay?

Hi All,
Previously on the “Properties of a Good Gasifier” I said I would picture up a buried eruption event layer:

Redish streak line ~13-27mm thick. 30 meters long exposed.
Stream gravel bank agates:

Orange at the bottom. White/clear at the top.

Today’s finds:

Al, culdnt agree more. They say animal fats are bad for you because they are mistly saturated. Then they take vegetable oils, wich are naturaly unsaturated, and artificiay saturate it to thicken them and somehow this is now healthy :joy:

Butter, lard and extra virgin olive oil is what we cook with and pumpkin and cold pressed sunflower oil is what we put no salads.

Edmundo Ramos reported yesterday on his charcoal gas cross-country trip in South America that he hit a bridge. Some damage to the vehicle and loss of a tire and rim. He attributed it to enjoying too much of the scenery. His Facebook group autoabasura is documenting his trip. He seems to be getting a good bit of press about his gasifier and travels.

This is very good he is getting the press coverage backing him on this big adventure in South America. The people in his country can use this technology and in the other countries everywhere.
I wish the general press was not so control by special instrest groups.
