Well this is my last week at the Chevy dealership. I’m changing jobs to a chemical warehouse in Belmont that some of my maternal 1st cousins own. Gonna get forklift certified and make $3.50 an hour more than what I was making driving the van.
I figured if I don’t get a job where I can have room to grow then I’ll get complacent with the delivery job and get nowhere. I hate to leave them understaffed, and I gave the manager a chance to ask for my wages to be raised but he couldn’t get it approved. Shook hands with him, I don’t want any hard feelings it’s purely monetary.
Dad’s Powermax battery charger up and died on him. Only had it for just a hair over 2 months, the 35A output model. Control board just fried on it, I found a toasty spot. He’s keeping the battery tended with an automotive charger.
Scary thing is it didn’t blow a fuse or give a trouble light, just died.
Anyone have a suggestion for a better AC to DC converter? Has to be 35A output max. The original camper’s models are not trustworthy and barely last a year.
I have had good luck with the iota chargers. I use them regularly for auxiliary charging of solar battery banks using a small generator. Not cheap but good.
Cheers, David
This time last week we were in the middle of a two day full blown blizzard. 60mph wind gusts and 20 inches of snow with some 5 foot drifts. This morning it’s 50f and the only snow remaining is a few places I carved paths out of the drifts. It will probably be gone by tonight. I’m not crying about it.
I love that kind of winter here today and gone tomorrow. Winter here is still all white on the ground with 5" more added last night. But it is light power snow easy to shovel.
Pre happy new years to you all on this wonderfull DOW site. May you all be blessed this coming year.

Wayne, this is the beauty of woodgas, it has not changed since it’s creation by the Almighty God the creator of all things seen and not seen. He knows what he is doing and it is all good for us that DOW.

First day in the warehouse. Having never used a forklift it’s pretty challenging to both learn that, and all the procedures for filling orders. I hope I’ll have it down pat in a week.
I’m sure you will pick it up quick. I never had any training when I bought my first forklift for our shop. The hardest thing to get used to is the short turning radius. Those things were literally built to turn on a dime. Also watch out when in reverse, that is when most bumps (doors, pillars, other skids) happen at my old shop.
Wow, all those snowy pictures bring back cold memories of winter in northern US. I had forgotten about icicles in my beard! For those of you considering moving south, why not go really south. Some nice land available next door - 50 acres with lake and mountain views, and plenty of wood. I probably shouldn’t post this picture as some of you are suffering biting cold and I apologize in advance for the cruelty. This morning:
Yup, the closest town would be Caburgua. Nearest city is Temuco. I try to stay away from cities. Guess I got that aversion from growing up in NYC. It’s much more fun playing with tractors and chainsaws. And less dangerous too!
