Finally got my friends over to help take the bed off. With 3 of us it was a cakewalk.
Lucky Inspector Sid had to put in his two cent’s worth.

That black cat is a copy of one we had, named: Johnny Cash, i really miss that cat…
Black cats are lucky in Appalachia. Lots of wife’s tales that they cure illness when they touch you. I like to catch feral cats in the woods, spay/neuter them and take care of them.
Sid is a very healthy happy cat. I only have two now, a yellow barn cat named Fidel and the dark gentleman pictured above.
Around here there are still some people that believe that black cat’s brings bad luck or are witches cat’s, i dont know if they are really serious Anyways i used to tell them our cat wasnt really black: he had one white whisker
I really want to mount the gasifier on the side of the frame. With the exhaust in the way I can’t mount it inside the frame. I could always make a platform from the bed perches and mount on top, but I dunno how I feel about that, less height to work with.
Right now in between the perches I have a bit under 12 inches. If I move them closer to the rear wheel I get 15 inches.
I want the gasifier mounted so it fits between the perches, with ears welded to the body to bolt it down securely.
My lazy side wants to just put the gasifier in the rear between the rear cross member and bumper.
I don’t have any steel to build a platform up front for a gasifier to sit on. If I did I’d still cut a hole for it to sit through for cleanouts.
Would be fun to build a rear mounted and have a chuck wagon bed.
I thought Don Mannes rear mounted a unit on a S10. Might be worth a look.
I just checked and Don has it taking up the center of the bed. Not a bad idea. I should just hunt for some square tube and make a mount like Jakob did with his flatbed.
John Stout’s Woodgas Rat Rod has it mounted in the back.
I would run the exhaust up the side of the cab.
That’s brand new exhaust, I don’t wanna mess it up. Plus it would put the gasifier too close to the gasoline tank for my own comfort.
Substitute the word gastank for the word badges. Watch some Roadkill and strap a 5 gallon plastic can to your front bumper.
This could go viral with a millon plus shares. I am still thinking about putting ( driveonwood.com ) on my tailgate of the truck. Timing could not be better for DOW to really take off and see a huge increase in membership.

Should it be okay to have that in back of ones car/truck? I think it would be nice to have on the tailgate (when my truck is up and running)
Someone thinks it’s a bad idea?
I just got another guy from the hunting washington forum interested last night, he should be around shortly. He had missed my thread with videos over there and was asking about wood burning trucks, about 6 others members pointed him in my direction and I talked with him for a few hours last night. a few of my short youtube videos have gone over 4000 views in the first 2 days, then I get a influx of new subscribers. i have directed many people who were interested to come check things out here in the last few months
By the way I don’t use TikTok, this screenshot came to me from my dad, which a friend of his sent to dad. Dads friend knew about my project and couldn’t believe what he saw.
I’ve been thinking the same. Is there any reason we should not drive around with a sticker like that? @Wayne @Chris ?
Whats really confusing is that means different things to different people.
I use an Imperial gallon, thats 4.55 litres where as you use a Roman Gallon thats 3.79 litres.
At least a litre is standard…
AS I understand US inch fractional bolts are AN.
Army Navy or it could mean American national I am not clear on this…
There is also German sewing machine thread…
Whitworth…
Pipe in standard, and American…
So Imperial to me means UK and an AN nut is not that…
