None of these were her saws. None were sponsored product sent to her. They were customers bought, then brought into her shop for help making them work.
So she faked the bad glued threads holding the clutch on?
Faked the reserved installed carb metering lever finger from the factory causing it to flood pour out the fuel?
Faked the low hours seized bar oil pump?
Faked the mis-installed crankshaft case seal?

I have for years maintained that China with a space program, working Nukes and such is capable of 1st world quality manufacturing.
IF we are sold junk-shit we are just as much to blame as them for insisting on the absolute cheapest possible price.
Stihl has evolved in the last 30 years to using a lot of precision molded plastics to get thier weights down. Not much a surprised that the results of the millions of tons of plastics waste we were shipping to them, can come back to ass bite us, as reformed, reused in the Chinese cheapest copy clone units.

The surprise to me has been that this H.F. Chinese 9500 inverter generator and the previous H.F. 2-cycle Yamaha clone generators Iā€™d bought 50 hours ran to settled, broken-in then gifted out; all had good virgin plastics on them. Were assembled properly. And ran properly out of their shipping boxes.

She; Chickamec is one of the good honest helpful youtube presenters.
No, many broken up, edited faked ā€œgoodā€ woodgas flares and perfectly woodgas running engines type presentations in her chainsaw presentations.

I have run a bunch of different saws. We have a 046 Stihl with a 32 inch bar on it. it will work you hard but it is very powerful. recently I have been running 445 ranchers a lot. Made by Husqvarna. they are good saws they are bigger and heavier than little home owner saws but I would rather cary the weight and have the speed of cutting of a powerful saw.

I have no doubt you bought it and it runs, but just a quick over view that whole websights SCREAMS chinesium garbage scam. The misspellings alone was enough to make my head hurt. Its a choke, not chock. Primer bulb not oil bubble, advertised as low kickback but doesnt have a safety chain. Looks like a wish.com listing personally that would have made me stear clear of it. That being said I have had several cheap throw away saws and of those the poulans homeowners line were my favorite. 40$ out the door it used to be, now they are 120 ish

I bought mine on ebay, wanted a cheap saw to throw in utv. Now it is my go to saw, it out performs my 028Stihl, starts easier. It has a 22" bar

Some times you just get lucky Al. Sometimes all the tolerances just happen to be right and it get built on a Wednesday or Thursday and not Monday morning with a assembly line full of week end hangovers.

I have to admit my bias levels are so highā€¦
It comes naturally however, I thought every kids Dad built kart engines and helped them growing up.
And my Dad worked at the McCullough plants in Toronto and LA where he built drone engines and all kinds of goodies that ended up under the work bench after he got old.

Working on high compression high performance 2 cycle engines is as much about knowing tolerances and attention to detail as it is about trusting your senses ( because no matter how tight the tolerances you still need to tune it ).

That woman has no senses, sheā€™s as dead stick as a block of wood when it comes to listening and learning.
Every engine tells you a story and if your smart you listen too it and tune it accordingly.
They all need individual attention and loving care to reach their full potential.

I mentioned once to Goran that my uncle used to have an old McCullough that had a handle on the bar for a second guy to hold. Chain looked like it would be big enough to anchor a ocean liner. Never found out what happened to that saw. Heā€™s about 90 now and probably has trouble remembering where the bathroom is let alone old tools. Iā€™m sure itā€™s buried somewhere under the junk in his barn.

I guess Iā€™m not smart enough to know Chickanic is a dumb ass. Her video on repairing the oil pump on a Husqvarna was very clear and helped me and her advise on starting my new Echo saw proved useful. Of course Iā€™m so inept with those small engines that sasquatch could probably teach me a thing or two about them.

Wallace when I was hired on in the year 2000 at the local Chrysler-Plymouth-Jeep dealership I supposed to be replacing their then gone-NASCAR-racing Advance Engine Performance Technician.
Only I did not know this. He was, and remained at least a twice better engine performance technician than I would ever become. But that shop now that the fair-haired golden god was gone became better and better at actually repairing bread and butter, earn the owner dollars, vehicles. Then there were 3-4 of us assigned the once consider hard diagnostic jobs.
And I coming from a works-on-all independent shops background; my teamā€™s service writer started taking in Dodge trucks. Low and behold on the other teams there was at least one guy been previously a Ford dealership pickup mech; another an H.D. diesel truck mech so we started giving the local Dodge dealership some real competition. And Dodge truck owners a factory dealership alternative.

Former golden haired (his actually was) God would not work on mere pick-up trucks. Would not R&R, drive-in, re-program auto trannys for our three Transmision guys when they got backed up like I would. Would not stoop to working on AC and climate controls like I would.
And he certainly would not stoop to becoming the 2nd man in shop doing Leaks, Squeeks, Vibration like I did.

Back in 2002 when we had a family of professional fallers hired to take down a fence edge row of Big 'ol Douglas Fir trees then truly hazards trees from a neighboring property where the new owner had stupidly built new house . . . . they called out their long-retired Uncle John.

He made them set aside their newer big Stihls, Husqvarnaā€™s and brought also out of retirement his big old McCullock. It was one of those two models in your video. He made them ax-off the bark ahead to save his hand tuned chain teeth. He showed them how to pocket cut to 40 ton jack over some of those hazard tree - to ā€œbe sureā€, leaving a much thicker than custom safety hinge un cut. ā€œCanā€™t afford any kick out.ā€ He even showed to bias cut the a safety hinge to be able to jack over, then twist-fall an odd grown tree. Or ā€œEnglish-itā€ around a saver tree.
On stills film we got him high-ladder chaining one big over the fence line leaning Wye trunk to the inner leaning one. Cut clear that one on the stump (spookie seeing lean out farther taking up the chain slack leaning out toward the house - the cut clear butt sliding back into the inner trunk). And use his cut-controlled fall inner one to pull them both over, safe.
Working Fallers learn to do this kind of stuff weekly as WORK. Working good tree Arborist learn to secure and rope down trees pieces at a time in-between buildings, right over buildings.
Racers? Or they race and entertain. Make their money with tickets sold. Maybe a percentage of the concessions cut. Win enough; then sponsorship money.

Just ainā€™t no comparisons man, between working and racing so far as for-all useable knowledges.

If your customer is working in the bush and you fix his saw there is a level of expectation.
That saw is their living and they expect it to perform.

This part is a fulcrum.
There are some things you need to know about it and the spring that presses it against the needle valve.
There are shims and spring kits available to adjust it to make a saw perform and it all comes down to understanding what is going on this part Steve.

That woman has no idea.

I know guys that worked in the bush and knew more about how to adjust their saws then a lot of the folks who give free advice on yourtube and claim to be experts.

I am studying my take-off pumper carbs for how to make a much enlarged version to meter crankcase pulsed, woodgas pressure delivered. Studying the single cylinder propane and methane vapor pulsator valves too. Both far different then multicylinder liquid fuel or gaseous dispensers systems.

By the knock-off you mean the Stihl 070 chinese clone? I got one for the fun off it, and must say very much saw for the money, the castings are somewhat more brittle than original, and heavier, i believe its no magnesium alloy, just aluminum. But holds up well enough.


For the occasional user these heavy beasts work really good, even the Tillotson HL clone works good, this one is sold as a parts kit, to build yourself. This one i slightly ā€œtunedā€ raised exhaust port and some, pulls agressive 404"chain on this overkill bar without hesitation.
By this im NOT boasting up, or advertising for chinese made stuff, just saying for a tool you donā€™t trust your income or life on, you get much for the money.

Ya, you would fit right in here coastal logging. Admire the 070, beard, big falling dogs and 404. Just missing that full wrap and you would be set!
That 070 is the one larger saw I have gotten to run chinesium version and I will fully admit, I was impressed. It nows lives on a alaskan mill for big spalted maples and according to the owner 5 years later is still kicking and screaming along

Yes, i bought this 070 from a fella, who imported those kits, assembled, tuned and test run them, then sold them to owners of alaskan mills and like, they is really popular for milling, cheap, and the weight doesnā€™t matter, he had an un-assembled kit left he sold to me, 140$, couldnt pass on that.
And yes, a full-wrap is on the wish-list, or: build your own-list :grin:

First one I looked at was about 14 years ago at a local shop.
They wanted my opinion, and first reaction was the casting was a little crude and you can tell where the moulds had stihl on them.

At the time I was looking for a low cost kart engine for a new league and I gave those engines serious thought because they were so cheap for a box stock class.
It never came to beā€¦

I guess this the the chain saw thread now. Goodā€¦ I really wouldnā€™t want to have to sharpen the chain on that saw Goren. Now a question and proof that Iā€™m really not a woodsman. I have a butt load of 20 inch Husqvarna chains that are stretched too much to tighten. All of them only sharpened a few times. I donā€™t think the chain oiler on that 460 was ever right but the tank kept on going empty so something was happening to the oil. Anyway I can never get a good answer about this. Can you remove just one link on a chain without any problem and who on-line sells new rivets for them. Next, who has made ripping chains out of regular full chisel cross cut chains.
