Office Hours - Woodgas Hangout

Good. Been wondering about you. I still have your hat and shirt.

Do these things get recorded/ saved some how?
I’d like to see the one on managing the char bed and a few more.
Don’t have a video camera on my computer or microphone.

Thanks
Marvin

Marvin, we do record them occasionally. The char bed one is here.

Lots of random discussion in there, I don’t know how useful it will be to watch.

Thanks Chris. I’m sure I can pick something up from it.

Hey Chris, is there a way to do a parallel MP3 recording so that we could move about our weekend doing our chores and still listen?

You just want it all, Doug. We won’t record it every week, but on occasion it’s worth doing.

It’s probably easiest just to play it on Youtube, even if you’re not watching. But if you want, Google for “mp3 from youtube”. Plenty of free services can handle that task.

Of course it’s nothing like the real thing…. You should join us some time.

Well Chris, I’m wrapping up the fourth room remodel of my this year bought house, and I think my slave driving wife will be satisfied for a while. This weekend I’ll start fin welding with my new 120 volt MIG welder. It has a 30% duty cycle, so I’ll have an egg timer reminding me to stop welding. My feet will be finally getting wet on this and then I’ll be worthy to sit at the table. For now I’d like to sit out on the porch and listen in to the men folk inside the cabin.

It sure is hard to listen on the front porch of the cabin when the windows are shut and my favorite treats are inside. This is a dilemma of buying more core materials or getting a computer camera. This is worse than the dating years of high school with girls fighting over me. Today I turned in 3 spools of .030 wire for .024 for those pesky saw blades. Before long, you’ll hear a knock.

Hey Doug, we saw you come and go. You’re welcome to chill with us anytime, even if we can’t see your pretty face.

O.K. Chris, my wife and daughter have IPADS with a camera built in. I’ll try conversing across the house to figure out launching the program, aiming the camera, and appropriate ear phones. We’re a little bit possessive with our own electronics, so I’ll have to dance with estrogen to get permission.
One cool thing is that I can take it out to the garage and not be just a talking head

Apparently 10 participants are the limit at the hangout. It was full up last night when I tried to get in at 10:30 and would not take more - so I just went to bed instead
Don Mannes

Yup, it was full last night. Sorry you missed it Don! It’s always a good time.

Sorry it’s a few minutes late… was out driving on wood. Yeah I know…

EDIT: Apparently some of last week’s folks are getting “video call from” notifications. Sorry about this, they changed the way this software works a bit. It’s not from me personally, it’s just the usual Hangout.

Last night on the “Hangout” we were talking about using the gasifier on the truck for a quick emergency generator hookup and I promised Chris Ky that I would post a short video taken at Argos showing how easy it is to do, so here it is http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=113a-FKUom0&feature=youtu.be

P.S. Here are pix for dial uppers

Thanks Don!

Reminder, hangout at 4pm EST. Today’s topic: wood re-fueling network.

hey Don

This probably should have its own thread but since you posted here I’ll ask my questions here.

  1. Are the pusher blowers pushing the woodgas up and into the generator or is the generator creating enough vacuum to make clean gas?

  2. how long did you run the Gen in one shot? How long is it viewed to be possible to run a gen like this before problems with tar creation?
