Copper and steel might stick to eachother/alloy but I’m not sure…
Well, I tried once more to repair the hole that I “created” and I just couldn’t get it. There is a metal ring that is welded around the tube about 6 inches up from the bottom(you can see it in the video). The hole is behind that, so I wasn’t able to get a heatsink in contact with the metal right behind the hole.
Anyway, I think I’ll just move on to the next setup. I plan on using an old 20# propane tank as the base, cut a hole in the top, and then I’ll take the top of the tube that I cut off and weld it to the propane tank. Air inlet will be 3 inches from the bottom of the propane tank. So, I’ll still have quick access to add more fuel with the locking top on the tube, but I’ll have a slightly wider body at the base to hold more charcoal.
Onward and upward.
