Vulcan Gasifier 25 kW System

Hi all

here is an over view of the machine.

looking good Mattā€¦ looking forward to vids

Very nice arrangement Matt. Fire and smoke please.

Hi Matt
That is just brilliant, very nice and compact, looks like lots of space to work on the engine, now as Carl says smoke and noise please!
Thanks Patrick

Well hopefully tomorrow,

I did run into a few issues with the alternator set up. The system is really driving the alternator hard and then with lighting and running the blower the alternator really has to work hard to get caught up. We ran it yesterday and that thing squealed like crazy until the belt was flung off into the shop lol. But other than that it ran really well and was surprisingly quiet with the short exhaust. So I think once I get the belt figured out all the bugs will be worked out. Im just going to go back to a V belt set up and put a larger pulley on the alternator. This will give the belt a little more surface area and will increase the torque to drive it.

Matt ,

Thanks for the video , enjoyed it,

Very nice work .

Thanks Wayne,

Yeah Im looking forward to meeting you and a few others this year at Argos. Im going to do my best to make it this year,

Yes Matt ,

Seems like I already know ya but havenā€™t met yet .

Looks great, Matt! Looking forward to seeing it in operation!

Well finally after working out a few bugs its a success. The machine is dialed in and running strong.

Howdy Matt,
That truly is a thing of beauty.
I can see ya getting lots of orders for that model.
Good on ya man.

Nice Matt !!

Very very nice.
How did the governor work out ?
Thanks Patrick

Success! Attention to detail, right down to the folding stairs. I like it.

Thanks all,

Patrick, so far the idle circuit worked fined with out any tuning. But for liability we donā€™t go any farther than the engine side of it. We donā€™t even hook up the couple. They will need to set this up with a licensed/citified electrician once they receive it. We will aid them once they get to this point.

We are now nearing the completion of the second machine. I re designed the auger system a bit on this one. Now that we have the CNC machine we can build more complex things more easily. The floor of the hopper has a better reducer built into it for better flow. For the auger trough I created a V shape with an anti jamming bar built into it. This system should not ever jam as long as the fuel is not over sized.

Another change is the blower is getting a gearing system to gear it up. This will be used for both flaring and also to push fuel to the engine. The flare tube and valve is going to double as the air intake to the engine.
