Hi Herb, Most people don’t have a clue what we are doing and when you tell them they don’t believe you anyway. Every once in a rare while someone has seen something on the subject and think they know all about it. I have one WW2 vet friend left and he remembers the gasifiers in Europe. I had another one that remembered them in the Phillipines and he rode with me in one of the parades here in town. He croaked last year. My dang car was running on only 5 of 6 cylinders in that parade. Turned out to be a bad wire.

I must have had the old trailer on it as I mounted a system on it in 2008.
I think these are the links ???
I still can’t lift a sack yet and have trouble climbing up to load a sack. Kinda sucks but I don’t want to preach to the choir.
I’d better eat some lunch. It’s 2PM
Mike
Denny what would you like to see pictures of? My whole center section is WK, it can’t be beat, it is tested and proven. The only reason I changed the cooler and filtering set up is because I wanted to pull gas out of both sides of gasifier, I’m an old hot rodder so I know if you can improve flow you will improve performance, I’m not sure if that holds true for gasifiers but it is very true for engine performance, I am very happy with the Caddy’s performance.
Yeah Mike I am always amazed at how few people know about gasifation. Your ride looks pretty cool in that parade. Hope you get your strength back soon. I’m doing fine,
Thanks Herb, Looks like your T storms are headed to us next, that’s how close we are… We had some hail in the round that just moved on. No wind and nothing major. Good downpour but a bit late for the crops as everything has gone or is going dormant … It’s 5:33 PM Thursday … Mike
I was wondering if you had photos of the build outer units (heat exchangers) and filter combo. I want to build a similar system for a 89 Chevy 3/4 ton Suburban. for the back. More photos over all will really be great if you have any. That’s real nice set up and I think it would work great for the Suburban.
thank you. Denny
Denny, what you see is about the best I have of the overall shape of the unit, didn’t take pics of inside. Center section WK, I made the coolers out of 22 ga., same with filters. The coolers are 8’ long, 2" wide and they just dump into bottom of 9" X 18" X 4ft. tall hay filters, I did add reinforcement to inside coolers and filters. The 3" round aluminum things on the coolers are spring loaded belch valves, the 6’X8" aluminum things on the bottom of hay filters are belch valves and hay clean outs, they catch a lot of water too, also spring loaded for belch, snezzes, puffbacks and or farts of any kind.
Hey, what do you guys think of my new picture I’m using instead of my Model “A”? Just curious. I don’t want to be charged with defacing state property or anything. Latter, Herb
I like it! ADC - Anti-Dino Cruiser!!
Good one Chris, hadn’t heard that one before.
Hey Herb I like your new picture.
Shows real heat and woodgas DOing.
Regards
Steve Unruh
Ah, but Steve, doesn’t it also show WASTED/LOST heat/energy/fuel? Though it is much better to have heat to waste than no heat at all!
Morning BrianH.
Read back up through his posts and HerbH. had a run out of raw woodfuel down into a char only burn. Hot. HOT. HOT.
Happens to the best of us.
Illustrates just how much we raw fuelers benefit from volitals release temperature moderating.
And especially how to judge the true power value of Reduction endothermic temperature conversion.
Actually it is only the energy in the heat that we DO chemically REDUCTION convert; and then send to the engine as chemical potential “fuel”, that the IC engine can into shaft power convert.
On a raw wood fueler the better your internal reduction zone control with oxidization zone volitials converted gases; the better you will be able to control the hearth lower temperature.
AND . . . on a vehicle mobile gasifer: system Size and especially Weight trumps all else. Only us stationary guys with no size and weight restaints can go all calorie/BTU/calorie/joule/kWth ape-shit fanatical.

Wow Steve, I looked at your picture up close, that is a very, very hot flame, pretty too! You are making some real heat man! Nice! Herb
Well I’ve decided my scorched tag picture had to go, so this is what the Caddy looks like from the back.
Looks great, but go hang that old plate on the wall somewhere. It’s got character!
Did a complete service on my unit this week, took this pic of inside one of the hay filters. this is looking down at top from side w/aluminum top/lid flipped over. The red is gasket, the black 6" X 12" box i s where the now cleaned and cooled woodgas goes down and out to engine, same on other side…
Herb looks like I asked the same question twice on the stainless steel things. sorry about that.
Denny
The only SS I’m using are acting as spings for door/lids at different places, all my doors/lids are puff ports. O the other place I used SS is around the center section, by the time I got that welding done under there no one wanted to see it, it’s not pretty! I say if it’s not pretty cover it up with somethi ng that is pretty. latter, Herb
Herb, Did you get to the brake lines yet :o) … Mike
No Mike, this makes 4 days w/o Caddy. last tue I was showing my 40 year old son how good the gasifier worked. I lite it here and it had about half a hopper left from last run, that’s when it runs the best. I had it changed over to wood faster then ever, up to speed limit in no time, down the hill, across the river where I like to turn around, went for the brake and they were GONE, nothing at all…I got stopped ok, turned around and back home but it was exciting. Need to go to town for fittings to fix broken line, got tied up on another project today, maybe tomorrow. latter
Has anyone else used 2" vacuum hose to get woodgas to engine from unit? Just wondering, I paid $62 dollars for 40’ of it, it went on nice, you can snake it around anywhere under there, even snaked it up between firewall and that sideways engine in the Caddy, it ties up nice and tight and it has been trouble free. I know if I would have done it with pvc I would have had to put it back together a couple of times by now with all those joints and movement. Maybe there is some reason it shouldn’t be used but I haven’t found it. Am I looking at trouble down the road? Thanks, Herb
