Yet one more load of oak headed for the sawbuck. It takes him longer to cut up now because he has to wait for the batteries to recharge.
(Note the hunter’s orange jacket to help the rifle hunters to differentiate between him and all the white tail deer driving Farmall Hs around here.)
Nice to see an old H out working. Mine has been in retirement since the early 90s.
I have two Allis Chalmers tractors I use most of the time and joke that I don’t need the orange jacket because I dont think it will add enough more orange to protect me over that tractor itself.
Cutting wood , more work to carry it out . Truck battery dead . suv battery dead . Truck battery will not take charge . Toyota rav 4 got wood out . Wish I could have bought hilux Toyota Hilux . Cut a tree it did not fall I cut the tree at a very steep angle from behind another tree . Tree just moved an inch and leaned against tree . I think it wants to jump over . all bare tree up to top with needles . when it falls I will make post to hold up barn .
cut another standing dead tree leaning against another tree . pulled it off stump with rope then had to wrestle it to ground .
Be very careful with those standing dead they are called widowmaker for a reason.
I feel your pain with the batteries my pasquali is sitting on the charger tonight because I cranked it dead after running that diesel out of fuel. Very frustrating. I am sure the injectors need new tips now I just need to find a set.
Did some more cleaning today. It would be perfect for a small charcoal gasifier to run while we work. Before that a Hookway retort… List is growing again instead of getting smaller.
Big pieces are for the house, small are for the Atmos boiler. Cut in the right length right on the spot. It is to much work to get the branches off before the Rebaki. That causes to much smoke. So Rebaki is used for final cleaning at the end of the day. Some piles of good fuel are formed this way. That hurts. But can’t have it all. And it not as relaxing as JO’s rebak!!!
Looks like Friday the 13th
Because we live in hilly terrain, tractor winches are an indispensable tool for harvesting wood, but I missed the lift for heavier pieces, and this is what happened, the assembly arm for lifting and rotation
Dan; Did you prime the fuel system after running it out of fuel. They won’t just suck fuel up on their own. Off times you have to take the filter offf and fill it. Or on a better day, you will find a pump in the line, to pump it back up with. Good luck. TomC
Thanks Tom I forgot I posted about running the pasquali out of fuel. The issue I had was I didn’t know where the bleeder was. I tried priming at the injectors only.
The line from the tank goes to a manual pump then there is a line to the mechanical pump on the motor. There is a bleeder on that assembly I didn’t know about. As soon as I got ahold of my mechanic he pointed out where that bleeder was and it primed and fired on about the first time it turned over.
I have also replace the old injectors now and it runs much better now. We didn’t replace the injectors when I rebuilt the motor because I couldn’t find replacements at the time.
I ended up contacting a dealer in Italy to cross reference the old Lamborghini motor number to the modern Kohler number as they own the Lamborghini motor division now.
I do not see, what happened?
Ah Jan, translator, … I meant to say that I added a lifting arm to the winch😀
I understand, I thought everything was factory made, fine work.
What materials do you have in the lifting arm?
I have a similar winch, which lacks an arm.
For the hand I used a tube 80 * 60 wall thickness 4mm, cylinder with working diameter 50mm, cylinder for rotation 40mm piston rod 20mm, connected to one two-way hydraulics, added a three-way valve to divert oil between the lift cylinder and the rotation cylinder.
Thanks Jan, for the compliment, but it’s not some surplus technology😃
So, lots of work last week. And what do I do on a free sunday? Setting me free with wood. Or a class of anger management, call it what you want. Thanks Mr Steve, wood IS the freedom fuel.
Those guys could create a run on scrap wood from people like us. Thanks for posting that interesting report.

A recent windstorm blew down a 100+’ Douglas fir, 40” diameter at the BHD.
My son parked his 1 ton dump truck on their property for a week and they loaded the limbs, some are 10” in dia.
He brought it to my place and I got started processing.
Now my training regime of holding down the recliner while watching Netflix and YouTube did not work well.
But it is fun to be cutting and chunking again.
Dang that is getting into fire wood range. That is a great deal.
