Overloaded is a perspective for off highway uses, because from here it looks just right!

The one thing to look out for with heavy trailers and tractors is going down hills. When the trailer pushes you down the hill is when people get hurt. From my fields to my barns is all uphill which is why I have never felt bad loading heavy. Uphill slow and steady wins the race.

Tone, that’s a massive load
My trailer have climbed I lot of rocks and stumps for 50 years. I’ve started to treat it more gently lately, not to put too much stress on it. Especially since woodgas, I don’t mind running several trips

Hi Bob, How big are the meshes in your net? Seems like a good way to dry the wood.

This is my wood supply for making syrup. These are 4’x4’

How many of those do you go through in a syrup season?

This is my first year using them. It takes about a cord of hardwood to make 13 gallons of syrup.

Yesterday instead of going on a DOW ride for pleasure, I thought this truck needs to earn it keep. So out into the cherry orchard next to my house with the truck to pick up the the bigger wood that has been trim off this season. I normally pick it out of the wood pile, but decided to help Roy the orchardist out.

This is the first and second loads.

Lots of wood I couldn’t make it down one rows and my truck was full, I have wood for making charcoal too. The big 7" limb will make some nice camp fire charcoal in the backyard firepit.

Third and forth loads done. Only 12 more rows to go. The pile is taller then me now.

The cut wood is starting to blossom and trees buds are ready to blossom too.
The Dodge Dakota has earned it’s keep.

I bet you slept good that night and maybe was gimping around the next days.
Highest energy wood and lots of it.

That is a sweet looking truck.

You could probably make char out of the leftover branches for him. Like a kontiki, or a pit one. That gets rid of the rest of the pile and all the potential disease from like scab, blight, rot, mildew, etc.

Actually Michael, I felled really good the next day, and yes I did sleep well. Today I shovel more compost dirt out of the chicken coop and yard. About 10 big wheel barrel loads. That makes about 25 big wheel barrel loads. The area is a foot lower in areas. Nice dirt for the garden. Dirt don’t hurt.

Thank you.
I like the improvements I have made on it. Me being the third owner. There still a lot of Wayne’s and Chris’s building on it. But their building parts are slowly being replaced when needed. I am glad I have the DOW truck from the “Have Wood Will Travel” book that Wayne and Chris wrote and get to take care of it.

I keep driving around in the cheery orchard, and picking up wood. This is making a lot of wood supply work for me.

Two years ago at this time I couldn’t do this kind of work. My shoulder was still not completely healed. But Yehovah almighty God said I am the God that Heals you. Follow My Commandments and I will do it. Yehovah is good on His Word, In Yeshua Name. Amen.
The pile is at 6’ tall.

Still have more rows to pick up. The cherry have blooms and the bees are out. I love how hard they work and they show it with honey.

Time to start chunking the popular and get it bagged up.

Just keeping it real. Walk what you talk.

Scored a load of 24 to 30” Doug fir from a free face book ad. Then with help from wife and neighbor lady split up about 1/2 cord.

Some of those 16” rounds were all my winch could pick!

I don’t need it, but wood keeps rolli’n in…

Wow Michael you must be fully healed up to be wrestling those big chunks of wood. Good job ladies on helping Michael out.
That winch has paided for it self over and over again. If it ever wears out just buy a bigger weight capacity winch.
