Second load from the first cutting. About half firewood and half logs. More fire wood left but time to pull out more stems.
The down side is that the skid steer has a tire with a big bulge on the treads. All the tires are about bald. Guess I’ll need four new tires, unless I can find a warn used tire.
Look around at the different tire places. The one here is always willing to help me with take offs.
Indeed, only one small tire shop in town. But one never knows. There is also Craigslist.
Do you have friends who are contractors with skidsteer? It maybe try a rental place and see if they need to replace some. Just random things I have tried before.
A skid steer is the best piece of equipment I have on the homestead. A year and a half ago I sold the one I had with tires to a track unit. Life is even better now
If I had only one heavy machine, it would be a skid steer. The operator needs to be a little on the crazy side to see the most benefit. Tracked skid steers are nice, but I have to work with what I have, at least for now. Tracks over wheels could be a possibility.
Ott tracks can be had pretty cheaply and they arnt perfect but they are way better then any tire in mud. Problem is most of them rely on a good tread tire to be aired up to hold the tension. A wore out tire allows the tracks to slip around and even pop off on a off camber spot and that’s not fun at all
It did cross my mind to get four new tires and a set of tracks. Boys love to play in the mud 
What a fantastic piece of equipment sure saves double handling , i would love to have seen how the chunker part of it works , i have an idea in my head how it would work off that crank .

I made a 12-way for my splitter last summer. I haven’t used it much, but I have a trailer of partially square chunks drying right now - in the rain 
I’ve found the entire process - from stump to chunk - takes a lot longer with the discs, than collecting thin stuff for the rebak.
I don’t think my splitter is strong enough for 12 way, might just have to settle for 2 way or maybe a 4 way split. Maybe when I pony up for a bigger gas powered splitter.
I believe I have 12-1500 pounds of birch poles. I’m guessing green wood is 40% moisture content?
I still need to chunk up what’s in the trailer which is about 1000lbs?
That should take about an hour to do.

I made a 14 mile trip and burned about 35 lb of my super dry wood (the same as I gave to Bob).
When I drained the hopper I only got a pint of condensate.
A combination of low humidity and dry wood because I usually get over 1/2 gallon.
I believe I have enough for you Jakob. I will leave it sit on the trailer to dry out. I have a bunch of woven feed bags if you need them. If by chance this isn’t enough, I have tons of firewood we can run through the chunker to supplement.
Do you know when you’ll be here? There are people that want to come over and visit to see your truck.

I Chunked up some more cherry wood today. IT WILL Be at 15 % dry in a couple days. About 20 more bags. Probably will do more tomorrow. I want Jakob to have plenty of wood to do the Northern route back to Minnesota to get to Bill Schiller’s place.
