Been driving the dodge for a minute (painful at the pump) but I wanted it at work next to the green truck to check measurements and adjust how I build things, so wood has been getting ahead of me…
That’s an interesting design Tone. What is the keypad for and what kind of tree is that in the first picture with the big leaves.
Tom, this is just a simple calculator that was attached by the previous owner,… the tree is a chestnut
Marcus, how do you feel cutting up the wood of the last picture? I always think it is a waste. Especially the big pallets. It is strong wood that still can be used for something
Tone, who are you? Gorans brother? Is there some machinery you dont have? Only Bruces equipment is bigger. But he is American
Let’s see if I regret it when I’m going to use this for the car, it’s almost only spruce, but a lot will be the right size when I thin a little in the young forest.
I do, but I have a ton of it stockpiled and getting more every day. I can’t keep up with having it all chunked and I don’t have time to build with it right now unfortunately. I have a shed floor framed out but with wood supply needs for the trucks and building the dodge I have not had time to frame walls and roof. Hopefully things slow down after the dodge so I can get back to that project
Consider separating out the better pieces and setting them aside for cutting dome struts when you get some time. Once you have the struts cut and color coded you can build a very strong structure assembling it in a very short amount of time. I have built up to a 32 foot diameter dome by myself. A 4V dome that size requires struts no longer than 4 ft. Good for temporary housing or greenhouses. Paul Robinson has a lot of videos and data for dome methods. I had enough struts cut for two 24 ft diameter greenhouses that got turned to charcoal when I had my fire.
Good tip Tom, thanks
Joep, Goran is a good competition for me, but there is always competition between brothers, ha, ha… As I said, I bought this saw a year ago, it was nearby, the price for the saw and rails was 1000 Eur, otherwise it is not a prestigious product, but it has iron wheels, quality transmission for movement, electric lift, in short, good components. It will be good for home use, when she cuts the wood in the picture, the invested money will be returned. However, it’s all related to work, well, as JO would say, I’m having too much fun.
Yes, your. Always ready for a good deal. The same story with the yellow road roller in the back?
Stone crusher, mobile crane, tractor, etc. You really dont need help from the outside.
A 1000 euros seems like a very good price for that saw. Tone. Very sturdily built and with the carriage raised and lowered with the screw it will allow for pretty much infinite adjustment to size your boards for thickness. You are now able to provide your own lumber on demand, not reliant upon a store or lumber yard. The longer that 1000 Euros sits in your bank or sock drawer the less valuable it becomes every day. Any money invested in tools, food, tools to produce food, is all money wisely spent. One of my sons has recently lost $170,000 dollars in Bit-coin. Think of how much equipment that would have bought. You should post any more picture of it in the saw mill thread.
I don’t need any more motor fuel right now but I had a cull long in my way at the saw mill and a limb that fell out of a tree so I will make miles from them
I know Wayne you are just a poor hard working cattle farmer and when the buck stops here happen for you back in 2008? You made up your mind to no longer to run your trucks on that high priced gasoline. So you had to come up with a way to run your trucks on wood. Being with the development of the WK Gasifier. But now that you have saved thousands upon thousands of dollars over the years, I would think you could afford to go buy the wife a new battery so she didn’t have to take it out of the Dodge Truck every time she helps with making fuel for the trucks. You have a Sweet heart of a wife and you know it. Go buy her a new battery. Kidding aside. You two make the best team on this site. Thumbs up for both of you.
Bob
Hello Mr Bob .
Thanks for the kind words .
If I bought batteries for all my junk I would need to mortgage the farm
Hello Mr. Wayne, it looks like you have a beard, am I wrong,…. your tractor probably has a 2 cylinder diesel engine, although it has low fuel consumption, it would do very well with the addition of wood gas, … at least I think it is very it’s easy, the speed controller keeps the working comfort, only the consumption will be much lower…
