Chevrolet s10 4.3

A few questions, do you think there will be much more wood hanging in this one which is 48cm, compared to the hopper I have now which is 54cm?
Will it be difficult to get this lid tight, there are no edges.

Jan, what type of container is that? Is it another type of “pannmursbutt”?

Chamber pot? :grinning:

No, not a pot to boil clothes in, but a storage container for honey.

Ha, not quite. We used smaller ones for that purpose  And usually not ss.
Pannmursbutt is word for word: “boiler-brick wall-pot”. As Jan mentioned it was used for washing clothes back in the days. With a fire going under it.

What do you think, JO, should I use this, or cut it up and make it bigger?

I would have used it as is. It would hurt to cut it apart when the lid already fits and all. Maybe add external tubes on it for condensation. That way you can utilize the entire thing for fuel.
Is it for the S10 or the Iller?

For the s10, I have a top part of an oil pan that messes up all the time, would like stainless instead.

Made perfect sense to me Don. When you put pan and butt in the same word what else can you think? :exploding_head:

I have to redo the hopper, it has rusted apart. The cone under the throttle has burned apart, I don’t understand what is holding the throttle up now.

Looks like you’ve been running the gasifier pretty hard, Jan. From what I can tell from the video, the restriction cone is burned through and the grate warped. Also, the nozzle tips seem to have taken a beating.
But I guess everything can be reached and fixed from above, right?

Yes, it has looked like that for the last year, I don’t know if it matters?
I have another problem now, I got a bukket for washing clothes from the neighbor that I have put upside down on the old bucket but it is larger in diameter than the old one, probably 0.5-1cm, I have smeared silicone in the gap from below, but I doubt if it will be tight.
Do you have any suggestions on what I should do, I’m thinking of putting in an O-ring string, that should work?
Edit how is yor father?

I think I would clean the silicone off and wrap a length of 1 cm by maybe 4 cm bar stock under that top container lip and either tack weld or bolt it to the bottom container. You could also add another wider, thinner piece of flat stock over the first one to make a tongue and groove set up.Then you could eliminate all but a small bead of the silicone for aesthetics because a gasifier should be pretty an not look like a drunk woman trying to put on lipstick. Just my opinion of course.

What first came to my mind was bicycle inner tubing

We went to the hospital to give him a ride back home today. He seemed normal to me. Only complaint I heard was he gained weight over the weekend. Apparently they served him three times the amount of food he is used to  Oh, and that he isn’t allowed to drive for a month of course.

JO,
Good news. Glad to hear you father is back to his usual self. Is that “normal,” like you are normal or a different normal?

Yes, that was a good idea, I had planned to put silicone from the inside through the door, but I have the inner plate for the condensate, so I can’t reach that edge.

It was a simple solution, try it if it’s leaking.

Different normal of course. If he had turned normal people normal I would be very surpriced
