Life goes on - Summer 2016

Aww, Snap!!
The family is gone for the day and I was planning to play with the old woodburner, but alas, it’s raining and calling for heavy thunderstorms all day.

So what? Get out there and practice your rainy day starting. You’ll have to do one eventually…

Old faithful had kittens the other night. Just took a few minutes to see if it was salvageable. It was ratteli g a bit more than usual but dark so I let it run. Then it got dark but the engine kept screaming. Grabed a flash light and went out for a look. The gen head separated from the engine. Looks like toast. Bolt holes on engine all striped, prices floating about broke some wires on the stator. Off to the parts bin for this one and off to the salvage yard for me to get it’s replacement.

At least it is not the first time this month something like this has happened. This off gridding is fun unless you have other things to do

I did a final inspection today for an accessory building that would be every man’s dream shop/getaway. When you post a you tube video I guess you don’t have a choice which frame of the video is the lead in to the main video but I did not choose this one. :smirk:

Here in the Northwoods of Wi. our inspectors have to be very attentive. Many people take out a permit to build a “garage” or “shed” and after it is up, they sneak in plumbing heating, etc and make a weekend cabin out of it.

Do you remember a detective program where he owned a '55 Thunderbird and his garage was part of his living room. That was my idle. TomC

Sweet work shop. Yours to borrow or just inspect?!! Hey Don, you have been a You-Tuber long enough to do custom thumbnails. Just still the video where you want and do a print screen, then paste in Microsoft Paint. Save as .jpg and use that for a thumbnail. You can crop, etc. In Paint as well. Works good.

I would never half to leave all the comforts of home and plenty of space and I wouldn’t get in trouble for having my motorcycle in the room :grinning: nice setup there don I hope you can take advantage of it .

I can;t afford nice stuff like that. I just inspect and drool.

Yeah the only advantage I get is getting paid to inspect it.

Hello Larry in West Branch .

I have been trying to learn these computers but still haven’t mastered it yet.

Yes I have been working the big dodge the last few days. It is hay season and I am moving tractors and equipment . Also running to the auto parts house for tractor parts and the farm supply store . I ran about 150 pounds of wood through it today .

The 150 pounds of wood saved me 10 gallons of gasoline , I have tons and tons of wood :relaxed:

With the full size truck you can expect 50-60 mph on level road no matter the motor size ( 5.2 , 5.9 or the 8L ) The gasifier sets the pace . You can hybrid with gasoline and go as fast as you want .

The dakotas run 60-70 level road . For short runs before the gasifier gets too hot you can get speeding tickets or jail

50 to 60 mph sounds good to me. I will be driving mostly on two lane back roads. Might go to Mich. UP a couple of times a year too.Sure don’t need any tickets.

I think as long as a gasifier operator keeps a good hopper door seal maintains the spings as the Wk model, wont likely draw any unnessisary attention. I seldom drive over 60 mph with my older transit either.enjoy your wood gas driveing, caint wait too get my truck unit finished, i may drive a few night rides too get used too it.so as too not be noticed till iron out some of the driveing operator 75 %.
