Gilmore style?

Hi Patrick,

Yes they are good idea’s, some of these are useable… dough i try to keep the simple fire gasifier as a corner stone.
it is amazing what can be learned when things ought to be simple isn’t it ?

i am already involved since 20 years, building difficult gasification systems, recycling machinery, comercial-technical…
but trying to keep it simple…
thats difficult…
but it can be done…

Look where i find my photo posted

Wayne, they actualy asked if your record could be broken… they have seen your movies at youtube, you’r getting famous here…

Looks like you are being kept very busy there Koen. Do you speak any Thai?

Hi Garry,
At the basic level with thai language now…
But sure busy here

Good Morning Koen, ( morning here but evening there )

Thanks for the kind words but they might have me confused with someone else. Most of my closest neighbors have no idea that I am driving with wood. Many of the farm trucks in my area have some type of tool box, fuel tank side boards or rack etc. on the back.

If you were to ask in my local community of anyone driving on wood they would have no idea what you were talking about . If you ask of anyone that dives with three black container behind the cab they might mention they see him daily but never seen him stop at the local gasoline station!

People have ridden in the trucks that have no idea that it was powered with wood . Also have been stopped by the law and ticketed for speeding and he has no idea the vehicle was powered with wood.

As far as the speed record there are two or three dozen on this web site that has driven faster.

Keep up the good work
Wayne

Hi Wayne, good morning to you.

I reckon people can be driving faster, yes, but performing the speedtests on the track is a bit diferent i guess.
There you need to prove it with SSS facts…
I have seen one on youtube claiming (before yours) but that was not measured by the rules…
As far as my knowledge goes, you have a fly by pole 1, pas pole 2 and the average speed counts. To be performed in the oposite direction within a time frame and achieving a procentual higher average speed in the second run.
Correct me please if i am wrong there. (Bonneville rules ?)
So, unless they beat your numbers in those conditions, they did not drive faster …
But as the whole world knows… people need heroes… to take examples from.

The good work… proving the world the value of woodgas. Based on solid facts, gasifying is an excellent solution towards the carbon dioxide problematic.
Believe me, i know where i am talking about…

Bed time for me now…

Is there a distance record for driving with wood?

Not sure about that Garry…i think i stick with the speed , that takes not so long  … But i wonder if they have different classifications?
Next week i am going to test the gasifier on a side span motorbike… a two stroke :-p

Hello Gary ,

I’m not sure that it would be any record but there have been twice I drove 800 miles without shutting down the gasifier. This was from an event in South Haven Mi. USA to Springville Al USA. Sean French road with me the last trip . We spent most of the day giving people rides and drove home at night .

One other long trip I took back in 2008 sponsored by Auburn University was a coast to coast and back trip . The total distance was 7,380 miles but was spread out over about two weeks.

Also Carl Zinn has made some long trips .

KVL, a two-stroke motorcycle with a utility sidecar! Does the engine have an oil tank and an oil pump for oil injection? I wonder if you could mount your tall reactor tube at a 45 degree angle… Will you feed the motorcycle exhaust into the air intake of the charcoal gasifier? Perhaps run hybrid and add a bit extra two-stroke oil to the gas in the tank. Be careful. I have heard that sidecar or side-hacks are different than regular motorcycles when turns are involved. Chris Seymour has a YouTube video of a 50 cc two-stroke scooter running on a coal gasifier which is mounted on a one-wheel trailer. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RxQmmCPslQ8 Forty years ago I owned a water-cooled 3 cylinder 750 cc two stroke Suzuki, and I got my wife a Kawasaki triple (also a 2 stroke) so she could keep up with me. I will be watching for your reports of the testing.

@ Wayne,
I think your driving with wood, actual miles driven by one person, could be a world record already…

@ Ray, yes, the oil injection is mandatory. Most of the 2 strokes here have that (99%) the 2 strokes are getting out of the world and being replaced by efi 4 strokes with an incredible mileage per gallon.
That would be the next thing to try, run one of these on my gasifier. But most of them are still under warranty

How will you lubricate the 2 stroke Koeen?

Hi Garry H,

Since 99% of the driving 2 strokes have a separated oil tank with oil pump, i think i will be on the save side with an engine equipped with that.

I am looking forward to the testing , but first this week to Vientianne for a visa renewal

Today i finished the Home-Power set, better use gasifier then solar panels

Will post pictures in a few moment.

Solar panels adieu…
Using this home made home set…
Here is the gasifier driving a Honda GX200 with a car generator and 1Kw Continuos converter on top of an 160 Amps deep cycle battery.
Coming home at evening, start the gasifier, boil the water, charge the battery, cook your meal… take a long hot shower…
Using Green Waste Charcoal for 3 hours…
Running your fridge all day, use your lightning all day…
1 Kg charcoal produces almost 8 Kwh useable energy…
Using the exhaust gasses to obtain more energy from your charcoal.
Saving the world from the Carbon dioxide problems never was more easy…
Use it as a charger for the battery from an electric car… ? put it in the back of an electric car ?
Hybrid cars do the same don’t they ?

Steve… more idea’s please… gasifier-wood-electric cars…

KVL, I am charging my Electric car (Nissan Leaf, 24Kwh battery) with some of the power from my solar panel array, indirectly, as I have the panels tied into the power grid. Looking at my power use to charge at 4 A.M., I needed 6 Kwh to charge on Nov. 14, and 10.1 Kwh to charge on Nov. 9. It usually charges in 2 to 2 1/2 hours from a 220 volt 15 amp plug. (The car travels 5.1 miles on 1 Kwh.) Range is 73 miles at normal speeds, 90 miles at careful speeds. The deep cycle battery you have is rated at 160 AH? The car’s onboard charger checks for frequency and proper grounding. The Honda inverter type chargers require a bond between neutral and ground which is accomplished with some 100K ohm 2 watt resistors done in the power plug of the generator. The manual warns about spikes on square wave inverters that might damage the very expensive Nissan onboard charger for the Lithium Ion batteries. Solar panels are like a water leak. A little bit over a long time adds up, but only when the sun shines. Charcoal doesn’t care what time it is…

Exactly what i meant Ray, and what about the Hybrid cars ? some have an gasoline generator, just for charging the battery…
At the picture is shown a modified sine wave inverter (200$) in my home i use an true sine wave (2000$)
the inverter on the picture works very well with brushed tools and heavy equipment, gets a little noise when i am using it with induction motors.
But i gives a nice picture

Anyhow… a woodgassed electric car :stuck_out_tongue:
no need for constant adjustments… even a micro turbine would do wonderful
What you think ? retrofitting yours with a gasifier instead of a battery ?

Koen,
That’s a tidy system you have there.
I was just thinking that the other day, a turbine would be ideal. Steady and consistent load on the gasifier.
Create either electric energy or hydraulic pressure to operate equipment. Or use woodgas as heat to boil water and create steam to turn a turbine.
Steam is a dangerous friend though.
I am finally getting my Dakota back on the road, one of my plans is to run my genset off the WK gasifier when I arrive home.
Cheers, Tim J

yes Tim, this is one of the possibility’s to present next month here in Thailand…
maybe next year a truck on woodgas :-p

but first a 2 stroke bike with side car…
