Merry Christmas everyone
Naughty or nice? Santa made a drop off for Christmas this year like every year, but what does it mean when you get an unwrapped pile of metal dumped on your lawn? Now I got to get the instructions to figure out how it goes together. Of course men usually toss that aside and just start putting it together. Merry Christmas
I have some blacksmith friends that love getting coal in their stockings… good quality smithing coal.
Snow is falling, a white Christmas. It’s been years. 60 deg yesterday, possibly 6" tonight. Drove on wood to the mail box, twice today. We’ll try some more tomorrow. EDIT: 12-26: we got 8 " during the night!
That’s a rare sight for Arkansas, eh? Guess you’ve got some shoveling to do now.
Hi Wayne and all,
Love that Johnny Cash rendition and, yes, so few words to put life in perspective. This is the time of year that I really look back and count my blessings not my things. And In that spirit I offer these two poems that a friend sent me in some trying times.
They’ve made a difference in my life and they will in yours, too.
Happy New Year to all,
Pepe
Great poems,
Thanks Pepe,
Hello Dave, (David Siedschlag )
You mention the high rise monster truck and if I bought it the Son would take it away from me.
Below are pictures of a high rise I am helping the youngun build. The back half was very easy to build but the front is going to be a pain.
In viewing your build when we met in Argos I realized you are a perfectionist when it comes to building!
We might be asking for your help.

Say Wayne, Is that the truck with the whimpy V6 that we got stuck in the mud ??
Say Wayne, I’m near out of grits here. Do you think you could box up 3 sacks of the regular and 3 sacks of the instant Jim Dandy ??? I triple bag them and keep them in the freezer. I’m going to head to the house and make some next … I think they will fit in one of the flat rate boxes …
Please post that pic of me in front of old Blue at the market if you still have it … Thanks, Mike
PS, I seem to recall they only sell quaker state or some such crap instant ones here … I’ll send check of course …
Hey Mike ,
Yes that is it.
History of the truck, A few years back I was in Tennessee test driving a dakota ( 93 dakota that I bought, gasified and still driving ) and got a call on the cell . It was the owner of a local scrap yard saying a dakota was driven across there scales and was I interested in it. Yes , how much ? Just the weight of the truck and at that time I think it may have been 10-12 cents a pound ( of coarse I tipped him)
The wife and youngon drove the truck here on the farm for 2-3 years ( no title) until it died. There are a lot of parts on it that fit the v-8s . Chris now has the starter on his truck. There wasn’t any damage on the bed until I cut a hole in the floor big enough for a 245 pound kid to go in and out.
Will find that picture Mike . Yes grits are high on my list of things I would hate to do with out and as you well know Mike that cold fermented beverage is high on the list also…
Mike I found that pic. It was three years back.
I also included pics of the storm that morning showing my 95 dakota ,your truck, the junk dakota, 93 dakota red and white but now painted black and still driving and the ole ford that Doug B. now owns .
I also include a pic of you loading rain soaked wood for us to ride on.
Hey Mike,
I have to keep the fermented beverage hid or the youngon will drink it all in one setting.
I had this quart hid and enjoying it as we speak.
You and that buttermilk :o) … I have a fridge in my office and at the trailer … I keep the fancy cheese in them with the beer … I remember what happens to you when you eat too much of that habanero cheese in one sitting … I just bought a hunk of wheel swiss yesterday. It is around $6 a pound if I recall right. The hunk was $9 … The holes still have the liquid in them and I enjoy sucking it out … Keeps the poop chute in order :o) …
Hey Wayne,
Nice tree stand. Everyone should have one like that. I would be happy to come down hang out and help with the cab part anytime, let me know when your ready. As far as being a perfectionist; I don’t know about that. I think perfectionists actually get things finished. My over doing it keeps me from getting stuff done. I need Mike to call me again on a Sunday and tell me to get off my arsh watching the Packers play and go out and listen to them instead, and get some work done at the same time. It actually worked when he did it! I should have that truck done by now, but still have some stuff to finish up. At my pace I hope I make the next Argos event!
On a side note, what’s up with the buttermilk? Also (Mike L) are the grits from down there better than the “Quaker” brand grits you can buy in the stores up here? If they are you can send me some also (lol) I love grits with butter, milk, and sugar!
David S.
David, I have mine with butter and grated parmesan cheese. Sue put maple syrup on hers this afternoon … Real maple syrup … Not that corn syrup junk … M
BTW, Packers played yesterday so we are at a loss today with no Sunday game … Glad they won this round as they don’t know how to function in that pressurized dome environment … I have heard the noise there is obscene from many folks that have gone to the twin cities … yes, get back to work … I’ll get something done this week :o) …
