Life goes on (original thread)

not hard to make electricty… got a gen set?

do you think i could get my son’s sled to idle? heck no… finally look down at the choke to find it on… dang… goes like a scaulded cat, and idles too… I think the kid will have some fun this weekend.

“ What else is going on “

MUD, MUD and MUD.

We had several days of hard freeze and then a few days of rain and now my driveway has some really muddy spots . I needed to make a quick trip into Birmingham this morning and usually go in the Dakota because it likes the big road. I didn’t think I could get it through the mud so I used the 4x4 , 318 Ram. The four wheel drive Ram is not as nimble or fast as the Dakota but still travels at a respectable speed and stays up with the traffic on level and down grades .

Short video .

Resurrected this this old girl. 1966 Olds Tornado. Front wheel drive and all the bells and whistles for it’s time. Now to clean it up, replace all the vacuum lines and a repaint.

Now there’s a beauty!
gonna run er on wood gas?

I bought it from my son’s friend. It hasn’t ran for over 5 years and got it on the road today. After I found out it has a 425, that was the first thought in my head, “Here’s and engine for wood gas”. But actually I bought it with my business partner and he lacks the passion for wood gas that I have.

You’re in good company Bill… Leno’s got one too.

Bill,

You could do a trailer mounted version of Herb’s caddy - all it would add to the Olds is a trailer hitch and a “little” carb tinkering.

I bet that baby has at least 10 to 1 if not a higher compression ratio. It won’t like todays cheep gas but would love the wood. I’m a newby here from north western WI .I’m a fifty yo hot rodder becoming more self sufficient all the time. I just learned of producers gas a week ago and have not stopped studying since…I am going to start on a unit here real soon. It is going to be tough to gather parts since the snow is over 2 feet deep here and temps not getting above 0 for weeks at a time, with that said I still love winter here! that is as long as I can stay home. looking forward tro meeting some of you guys and trading lies.

Welcome to the site Jim.
I too am new to wood gassing but also self sufficiency. It’s amazing what one can learn here.
I have to doubt this car will see wood gas. I picked it up for $1500. I may just get it working good, give it a paint job and then let someone else enjoy it.

Thanks Bill I have to agree not the prime candidate for wood power. Nice buy from the looks, personaly I am leaning towards the natural patina as opessed to the restored look when ever possible anymore. Any excuse to not create myself anymore work.

Hey Chris and Wes ,

Thanks for the heads up on the blowers !! I have a few headed my way…

It looks like I have secured a new building for our operations, I go in tomorrow to finalize paper work. This shop is almost four times the size of our current building. We cant wait to move in, it is so cramped now with these larger machines and all the parts and materials. Once we move in Im going to take on the challenge of building our own CNC Plasma machine.

Congratulations Matt. Looks like a good place to “Git er done”

Congrats Matt! Nice lookin’ shop!

Good on ya Matt!
Really good to see ya progressing… Nice to see good honest workmanship, can still succeed.
All the Best in the new digs.

Thanks guys!! Im very excited about this move. Its going to be fun.

Got a call from Roush Yates. They wanted to verify my credit card wasn’t stolen… apparently they’ve had a rash of orders for bilge blowers, and they’re a bit perplexed as to why.

I tried to explain what we’re doing with them, and that they have the best price right now. I identified some of his other customers (AR and AL, you know who you are). He was going to call everyone, but I think I assured him that we’re legit.

He says they’re happy to help us out! Just wanted to check first. (Probably more blowers than he’s sold in years…)

Now that’s funny,… bet he raises the price soon!

Hey Chris

I’m sure they believed you about the credit card but when you were explaining what we were using them for may have raised some doubt.

Nothing like some racing bilge blowers, Tim the tool man would be proud.
