Tree cutters beware (be aware)
If that don’t make you laugh then there’s something wrong with you…lol
Are you building a new fire tube. The reason I ask is I have lot of 12"- 1/4 thick walled pipe that I can cut you a piece off from if it would help. Its real good pipe with no pitting or rust. If I make it to Indiana I could bring it with me or could ship it if that is cost effective over you buying a piece. Let me know
Gary
I usually cut trees down, but I herd people talk about cutting them up. Now I know what they were talking about.
Now that is a new way to “Top” a tree!! That is so funny, good find Carl!!
Sorry for the novel… I really need to put all this in context so people stop *&%#ing jumping to the conclusion of “So, what? You got a bit wheezy. Get over it.” That is like telling someone who crashed their car into a concrete wall at 50 mph ‘So, you got in a little fender-bender… Walk it off.’ Not the same at all…
Also, just because someone else has been diagnosed with the same label, does not mean that their condition is exactly the same as mine.
Call you tell that I’ve dealt with a lot of people trying to say the above?
Anyways… Last night I had my first “Full Lung Event” in about 3-4 years.
Also, I had what I’m dubbing a “Recurrence Event” for the the first time ever in my life.
As some of you may know, I am quite chemically sensitive, particularly to many fragrances.
Some cause run-of-the-mill asthma attacks (comparatively gentle constriction of all of the small airways deep in the lung). Somewhat dangerous but mostly just “short of breath” and wheezing type of annoying when treated.
Some cause an aggressive “Drowning Response” (throat tries to instantly close up to avoid letting any contaminants into the lungs. When someone drowns, almost no water gets into the lungs until they are near dead. Basically, I’m drowning on a few molecules of fragrance chemical.)
Last night, while trying to install our “new” washing machine, I got a full dose of some stuff that triggers the latter, the Drowning Response type. I was already out of breath from dragging the machine up our stairs and into the apartment so I was breathing deep and heavy to catch my breath. Trying to make the last shove to get it into position, I took one last extra deep breath… right with my face next to the cabinet that previously contained the smelly fabric softener #$%@ from the last tenet. The particle board is pretty much soaked from a spill that never really got cleaned up. SEE: “Full Lung Event” below. It took 4 puffs of my Asthma/COPD inhaler (“Albuterol”) and almost 30 minutes before I barely started to stabilize. The maximum dose for Albuterol is 2 puffs every 6 hours.
Years ago, I was taught by someone else who had more experience how to quickly exhale and manually/controllably close my throat to avoid further exposure. Also I was taught how to try to manually tense/open specific throat muscles which my body’s autonomic response is trying to keep closed to avoid exposure (SEE: fighting my “Drowning Response”). It’s sort of like fighting the urge to yawn while that yawn is trying to kill you. “Albuterol” also helps a bit but definitely doesn’t stop it by any means.
For the Drowning Response, I have a scale of degrees of exposure. From most minor to most extreme:
-
“Aborted Event” I smell/detect the chemical while it’s still in my nasal cavities or mouth but manage to exhale it out of my body before I get a response. No effect and I hold my breath until the exposure clears, I leave the area, or I appropriately filter my breathing air.
-
“No-Lung, Contact Event” (“N-L,CE”) Chemical makes it to my throat and triggers a response, but doesn’t get into my lungs before I exhale-and-hold. Burning “choking on acrid smoke”/slight “pepper-spray” sensation and short hacking coughing spree. Increased phlegm production/secretion. Lasts 30 seconds to 1 minute on average.
-
“Partial-Lung Event” (“PLE”) Full exposure but I only took a very shallow breath of contaminant before exhale-and-hold. Same as 2, but also jerking/halting breathing ability/pattern (fighting Drowning Response) and dry/sticky throat (body stopping production of saliva).10-30% breathing ability averaging 20-60% of the time. Lasts 1 to 5 minutes.
-
“Full-Lung Event” (“FLE”) Full exposure from a deep breath of contaminant. My entire lungs, throat, and sinuses all instantly start to spasm/constrict. Same as 3, but far worse. Maybe 5% breathing ability and less than 10% of the time. Lasts 20 minutes to 2 hours with a roller coaster of varying degrees of effect.
-
“Recurrence Event” After a FLE, or potentially PLE. Mixture of Albuterol, opening/flexing throat muscles, and stretching throat structure has stabilized my breathing to a state similar to N-LC,E but medicine/exercises wears off while there is still contaminants in my lungs which brings me back to full FLE state. At that point, I had already taken double the max dosage of Albuterol.
Wow, Brian, that sounds bad. I have no experience with asthma, but do have to watch aspirating food, and I know the paralyzing effect of “unwanted” stuff!
Bring some to Argos if you can, my problem areas are a 13" circle on top the hay filter and drop box. I’d like to try something that will last.
Here’s a strange new way to make fast fuel.
and the place to buy it. http://www.vipukirves.fi/english/index.htm
As a child my Grandfather always thought me to never be plowing a team of mules and light your pipe at the same time. For those that don’t understand why and a quick lesson about bio-gas

I can’t watch the youtube but around 20 years ago I showed the kids how to light off a fart on the living room couch. They had never seen it before … The lint on my pants caught fire and I had to pat it out … They laughed on an off all evening. We used to have contests when I was in the boy scouts. We even had a place called farting rock … Power to the people … M
That is so Funny Wayne, thanks for posting!
Hey Wayne, the only thing funnier then that video is to think of Mike La Rosa in the Boy Scouts
Yes Mike ,
I have heard the name F Troop somewhere . Were they referring to your troop ?
I built a heavy duty jogging stroller for one of my wife’s students who has spina bifida. He weighs 180 and the other kids are going to take turns pushing him when they go running. Also, lo and behold, I found an almost rust free 92 Dakota V8 here in Vermont! Next step is a firetube.
Nice bike Dick. What a great and thoughtful thing to do for someone. Having some history of working with patients with spina bifida, I’m sure that person will appreciate it.
Great find on the truck.
I’ve been on the hunt for a 2000 Toyota Tundra to gasify for a few years, and finally came across a deal I couldn’t refuse. Promised the wife I wouldn’t tear it apart 'til after summer, so this will be a slow build. But she didn’t say I couldn’t measure and sketch!
289 V8 automatic, should make for a fun project!
That looks like a good horsepower to weight ratio and has not seen calcium chloride.
This is what happens when the ice starts to get thin on a 183,000 acre lake and the wind kicks up. This is happening right now today. The road grader is out trying to keep up with the ice to keep the highway open. This is a hwy that stretches from Minnesota to Oklahoma.
Fyi: I am not in the video. My apologies for the language in the video.
Wayne called to say his internet is offline today. Big rains and twisters moving through Dixie, they’re hunkered down. Stay safe everyone!
