About to head out.
Is that a 400 mile load or do you have some reserve?
I talked with Wayne and Lisa a few hours ago. They were in Mississippi at the time. I also made a post per his request on the Yahoo Woodgas group that he would be in Thayer, MO all day on Saturday exhibiting at the Go Green Festival there in case anyone there or here was unaware of where he was headed. Hard to tell what he loaded up. Looked like 600 miles or so ?? When he showed up at my place in 2007 all I could say to him was he had more b_lls than I have and then he polished off the grits. He drove all night. Took naps the next 2 days … Mike
My wife and I are starting a quilting business, so we been busy getting thing together for that. Good thing is it is in the house so we don’t have far to go. we will be taking someone’s quilt top and stiching it together with the batting and backing.
Wow that’s fancy looking. Looks like it could do the whole thing while you’re taking a nap!
That’s the idea, it is computer driven. All we have to do is learn to set the computer and watch it do the work.
Hello Jim,
That load of wood in the picture took me a thousand miles and I had four sacks left over when we got home.
Saturday while I was displaying the truck I used about four sacks and never moved the truck. I was starting it up and running the motor quite a lot during the day.
Happy Birthday Wayne. We blew by Birmingham this afternoon and are nestled in near Montgomery right now. Sorry to drag all the cold weather with us but that is how it usually goes. You still have leaves on your trees and cotton in the fields. Our leaves fell off weeks ago. I stopped to see my brother in St Louis and burned up my visiting time there. You can take it up with Sue. She may actually do the next gathering ??? Mike
Hey Mikie,
Make sure you stop by on your way back north.
I understand why you didn’t answer your shop phone yesterday.
I was asked to bring a wood burner to an event just a couple miles from here. There was no interest in the truck but there was a lot of good music. Mike L. you would have fit right in.
After the event I did a lot of running around in the V-10 ram. I shut it down just a few minutes before midnight.
Wayne, wish I was there. It doesn’t get any better than that!
Don M
Yes Don,
Wish you where there.
The music always sounds best when you’re sitting on a stump or tail gate and close enough to fill the camp fire.
Our thoughts and prayers are with all our friends along the north east coast.
For what it worth Alabama Power utility crews headed north east in convoys over the weekend.

Hello Mike LaRosa,
Where in the world are you?
Last heard from you in Montgomery Al. Hope you stop by on the way north.
You may have picked a bad week to come down. It has been cold and windy but it might have been worse in Wisconsin.

I HAVE NOT WORKED MUCH IN THE SHOP SINCE AUGUST, BUISNESS HAS BEEN GOOD, NOW I HAVE NO EXCUSE . POSTING A FEW PICS, OF LABOR DAY COOK OUT AT HOME , OUR ALASKA CRUISE , AND MY FAMILY MEET UP IN OREGON . DAVID
Hey Dave,
Glad to see you didn’t fall into the landfill and get covered up. I’ve been wondering where u were. I am building a 96 Dakota now.
Hey DaveO
You had to be bracketing me man. Next time let me know. Those Oregon/going to Alaska jets out of Seattle fly right over our valley. I would have at least waved. Lucky dog you caught our record “dry” drought period tis year in OR/WA. See/smell the forest fire smokes? Not so dry though up in the Alaska panhandle was it?
See what I mean about we here on the 10 month wet side of the Cascades having all the trees?
Your relatives will tell you once the drought broke and the rains turned on again since the 15th of October we now cycled to record breaking wet in the last 16 days. You lucked out man.
Regards
Steve Unruh
Our thoughts and prayers are still with the storm victims in the north east.
I know this is way off topic but this is the off topic thread.
Alabama power crews drove 900 miles to New Jersey to help rebuild the power grid.
They where refused and many are on there way back home.???
Thanks Wayne and everyone…On the topic of the recent storm - I had heard that they were enforcing car pooling rules and turning away vehicles that did not have more than 3 people… I doubt they would turn away help for the grid or tree clearing for that reason though.
I live about 100 miles north of NYC and was down near ground zero earlier last week and took this picture of the statue of liberty. It is hard to imagine what millions of the city folk people are going through in these densely populated areas in the NY/NJ metro, but try to imagine how any large city would look after taking on 13 foot of water downtown in the streets and tunnels. They live in highrise buildings and have been literally cut off with no electricity, no transportation, and no food if they dont have cash. There is gasoline rationing and people are starting to get desparate…
No harm has come near our dwelling this time. There was one power glitch Monday night, and I had to reboot the router - a minor inconvenience. Some of the folks I work with on the day job have been affected with power outages from Massachusetts to PA and all in between. So the most damage and inconvenience is from the water and flooding - away from the water, there are power outages and property damage from falling trees.
Densely populated areas are a powder keg because of the stresses related to lifestyle interruptions and restricted supplies of food and fuel.
Keep an eye on this situation and think about how your lifestyle choices can give you freedom.
Keep the woodpile dry !
