Life goes on - Summer 2022

Wallace, the translator often mistranslates my words, I wanted to say that most people on this forum row against the current, Kristjan once stated that he built an invisible fence around his homestead, so that hardly anyone steps on his land

I call this desired state of Living as, ā€œLiving between the pagesā€.
Think about it. It will come to you. As ObiOne said, ā€œJust BE.ā€

In the ā€œBeginningā€ God created Man and took a rib from him and made a Woman out of it, they lived in paradise,ā€¦ in the zone of pleasure, because they sinned, they were expelled from paradise and God said, ā€œin the sweat of you will produce bread for yourselves,ā€¦ and thorns and thistles it will bring forth for youā€. The modern man once again imagined that he must live in paradise, ā€¦ abundant food, a large warm apartment, a luxurious summer vacation on a paradise beach,ā€¦ parties, trips, a carefree future, ā€¦ everything works with a touch or a click ,ā€¦ but we must realize that we are not in paradise, to survive requires sweat, effort, dirty hands, pain in the muscles and back, and this is the biggest enemy of modern man, all measures, pressures, wars,ā€¦ ā€¦ destroying Mother Earth, the main sin is LAZINESS.

Tone. That sweat, that pain, these are manā€™s greatest joys. I weep that so few know this now. These males who are ashamed to be men. Youths that want to experience life VR. So few people now experience the miracle of planting a seed and nurturing it until it feeds your body. To take a broken, greasy piece of equipment and make it functional. To end your day and know that you held back nothing. I pray that people like us are not the last real men.

No, take a look at Kristijan, Norman or Cody. Or Vitaly, he is still young too.

Itā€™s definitely feeling like Last of the Mohicans out here for sure.

Haha. I have the same feeling. After all those years it is clear that I suffer from an energy-tic. Better then another tic.

I have had it with work today. Holiday mode.

And Tone, you give me to much credit. Only blabering, my chp is not working yet. Only in my head. Tried some brazing. Big disasterā€¦

Thereā€™s a saying , if you want peace in the house, let the woman always be right, but to make things work and not bring down the house of cards, the man has to do it his way,ā€¦ the story of Eden , the forbidden fruit , reminds us of this . The great burden will be borne by the men and women who come after us, and I pay tribute to the honest and hard-working people.

I kind of guessed at a translation miss match.
I still like the way it was worded.

My sociological/political/economic inclinations still are not popular in a world slowing sinking into right wing authoritarianism

Here is a question for everyone. Lets take the scrap collectors. What is the most expenive thing they have to pay for to do there work. They go around and collect scrap and recycle at the recycle yard. How do they do that? Carry it by hand. May be in some countries they do. But here we will say they are using a vehicle of some sort that uses GASOLINE, or DIESEL fuels. Now same guys but now DOW. $$$$$$ of savings in their pockets and tax free 100% profit for them, other then having to make fuel. Sweat off the forehead type work.
In everything we do that we need a Gasoline or Diesel vehicle, it cuts into our profit big time now. Driving around doing (lawn care work), your work requires driving around (making delieveries). People are going to catch on sooner or later about this. Many here on DOW already have.
I am almost tempted to make up a sign that reads: ā€œthis truck can run on Air, Water and Charcoalā€ Go to driveonwood.com to find out how.

Around here people are hauling scrap 20-50 miles to cash in down at port of Tacoma, I donā€™t know how well they would like the wood burner that close to port, the cops down there are jerks. I have another place I haul to in Puyallup that would be easy and no problem. Plus hauling scrap Iā€™m sure you would come across ample gasifier obtanium materials

Yup like Roy the orchard manager next door brought me 32 55 gallon barrels for free the other day. I have gasifier building material now. I hope he finds more good stuff like that for gasification for free.

Lucky! Iā€™m pretty jealous. I have to beg barter and anything short of stealing to get my materials. I do have some windfalls every now and then and Iā€™m always grateful for that.

Here in Indiana you canā€™t buy out of the scrapyard. They are all owned by corporations connected to the steel mills. Itā€™s tough to get ahead of the iron termites (scrappers) and the winos.

That is becoming a problem here too

Every scratch yard now seems to be owned by Montreal based AIM metals

I think itā€™s bad for everyone to have no alternatives but to do business with 1 company

We are so far from any hubs, that the local scrap guys donā€™t pay much for it, so it piles up. People have no incentive to bring it in. Before 2007, people were charged $25 to drop off white goods. All the old foundations were filled with washers and fridges. Now, I run around and ask, and usually just get it given to me. I wonā€™t sell it til the big war and scrap prices skyrocket.
I do notice itā€™s all the boomers scrapping. The young ones arenā€™t driving or are employed. Itā€™s these old guys taking in wire, thinking $20 is worth all that effort.
I had admonish a friend. He kept turning in wire and brass fittings, then he wanted a trailer tire, and didnā€™t want to pay a hundred bucks for it. I told him I would have given him the tire but I have to buy wireā€¦so now he brings stuff to me, and I give him tires. People donā€™t think about what inflation does to prices until they have to buy something!

Poo Poo happens!

Blew out a tire on the pasture clipper and also had a spindle to break off between the inside and outside wheel bearings

Welded the spindle back on and doing good so far

Seem like there are a lot more breakdowns when the heat index is over 105F.

Wayne, if that ever were to happen here Iā€™m sure everything would shut down. People would stay submerged in lakes, rivers, pools and tubs or hide in caves or root cellars until temps dropped closer to freezing
