Thanks Kristijan, no flux, because this is more like something between soft soldering and brazing.
Instead i mention the “technique” to scratch the suface of the aluminum to be soldered, through the molten zinc “solder” where air can’t reach.
A little tricky to do, but a cheap, working method.
Funny how super fast aluminum developes a oxide surface.
I have a dim memory of an online article about aluminum brazing rod being basically zinc. I think the author’s opinion was that zinc is reactive enough by itself that flux wasn’t necessary, just a clean aluminum surface to start with…
Might not be something for gasification but this is good know if you do any body work. https://youtu.be/i5tWfpurkkY?list=TLPQMTQwMTIwMjQ3iK2ZWbjCjA
THATS the one my dad showed us how to break down tires. just driving close to the rim, works good most times, later on we got the sledge hammer wedge tool-if you can manage missing the rim,it works good.
NICE trick MATT- i never knew how i could smooth out some dried out bondo- by just adding a little fiber glass rosin-i got to make a note of that trick,so i don’t forget in between body work-jobs.
Yes, Good to know. I always thought that body filler porosity was normal and you solved it with glazing compound. This would eliminate a whole step.
You still need to use an epoxy primer sealer. Seal it and seat it again, you can never add too much sealer to body filler.
That truck cab, just the lower half and floor boards I spent 500 bucks alone just on sealer. The paint I paid over 500 as well just the paint the cab inside and out and the doors.
Well the way you sealed it, it should never rust out again. Especially if you move way South out of Michigan south of the salt belt for road de-icing.
Yeah I dont know why we let them get away that. I just dont understand. I lived out west and there is no reason for it; other than Mich is on a huge salt deposit. But so what?? its ruining our investments. People here need to get a clue and put a stop to it. There are better ways like what you guys use out there. Like all those mint condition Pinto’s and Chevettes you guys got all over the place. Most here have not seen one of those since the 80’s LOL you would have a better chance finding Bigfoot than a Chavette here in Mich.
They cut way back when salt prices skyrocketed probably 10 years ago and there was a shortage. Now they have guidelines that limit the application to some extent.

Yeah when I came home I almost wanted to cry seeing brand new trucks with thier bumpers rotting off. Yeah you get used to not seeing all the rust and then you come back here and our cars just look aweful.
In fact I was a tech out there. Never needed a torch out there the bolts practically fall off they are so easy to get apart. Here using a torche is just part of the job. lol
Compresses air blown inside out down thru his filter tube socks. Using his own designed pulsator nozzle. It is detailed in his book. Compressed air tank inside his trailer front tool box.
See starting at 2:15.
CC enable JanA. then YouTube gear tool switch the CC to Swedish.

Do you know how I can do something similar?
Could I use a valve like this, set at about 5-6 kg?
Jan, as I remeber it you filter is kind of a big umbrella. I could be wrong, but don’t you think small socks like Vesa is using are needed to get good enough puffs with copressed air?
Edit: Maybe an air tank with a 2" valve would do. But you would have to have at least a twice as big release valve not to explode the filter vessel
Hi Jan, for a big, single filter i thought about using one of these.
It’s easy to build one yourself, if finding a fast-opening valve, or build something like a toilet-flusher valve.
If searching air-cannon on youtube you will find some stuff.
Just throw them in the dirty laundry with your other socks, and hope your wife doesn’t notice.
Other then a wobble nozzle like from a pressure washer, I can’t think of much.
Actually the OTHER thing that MIGHT be similar is something like this
Nikro Eight Whip Nozzle - 861322 - Jendco Safety Supply?
It is basically the nylon weedeater( string trimmer) string, on a spinner that is used inside HVAC ducting to beat it to get the dust out, you connect it to a drill or something that spins fast, and then they have high powered vacuums that suck the dirt out after it dislodges.
