Wayne's V-10 Ram

Don’t get too envious JO. Today they had tornadoes go across his state.

Oh, I didn’t know.
Maybe we should be content with our snow and ice. No tornados and no rattle snakes.

The rattle snakes aren’t the issue, it’s the Copperheads. Rattlers will tell you to back off but a Copperhead has no such warning system if you’re not looking carefully. Their necrotic venom can mean death if you’re not immediately admitted to a hospital and even then you’ll lose muscle tissue to necrosis. Very nasty.

Do you have snakes in Sweden JO. Poisonous or non? There is only one semi poisonous snake in our area and very few have ever seen it. It’s one thing that makes me very happy to put up with the long winters and snow. Hell, we never even had ticks until about five years ago.

Y’all talk about our snakes as if we are overloaded with them. I’ve never seen a rattle snake, copperhead or water moccasin, our three poisonous snakes in Alabama, except in a zoo. I’ve seen more farther north, Tennessee, Virginia etc… As for tornadoes i have never seen one and there has only once been one close enough where we went out in the yard in front of the root cellar to watch for it to see if it came our way but the closest it got was 10 miles away. if this rain will stop we are planning to plow and start planting here in the next few weeks i don’t see how Y’all handle all that cold and snow.

y’all are lucky. My woods for some reason are rife with copperheads. I’ve wanted to get some wild kingsnakes and introduce them to hunt down all the venomous snakes. I know they do fine here in NC and are native to the area, they just aren’t common in my woods.

Are those copperheads edible like rattlers? We have the rattlers here and dad used to go catch them as a kid for food. I got a surprise in a public camping area in Idaho on a mule deer hunt when I sat down on the toilet seat in the outhouse and a rattler was under the seat. I didn’t need the toilet anymore, if my britches weren’t around my ankles I would have needed new ones

Haha! It was more of joke, Jakob. Your fathers fault if I remember right  He once said he prefered wading in rattle snakes rather than dealing with snow

We’ve got 3 types. One of them poisonous. Easily recognized because of a yellow zig-zag pattern on its back. Quite common actually. You see one now and then. Don’t usually get more than 3 ft long though.
Btw, exaxtly the same thing were I live - no ticks until 5-10 years ago.

Yeah I get it. So y’all can joke about that and I’ll joke about polar bears and we will call it even. :joy: :joy:

85F in early March? I’d be begging you to put me out of my misery. I can’t stand those temps even in August. We are going to be around 20F today. I’m going to have to start stripping off a layer or two. Just what is too hot for an Alabama-an. Is that a real word?

I run for tree shade at 100 degrees.
I take a page out of the Arab’s book and wear a long sleeve cotton shirt in the summer to prevent sunburn.

You and me both! It’s why I am across the straits!
My dad calls from Ventura, CA and asks what temperature it is, then always says this “…well if it makes you feel any better, it’s 75F here.” To which, I ask
“Are you still trying to weld in shorts and clogs?”
That usually gets the subject changed to whatever the latest liberal craziness the state government is subjecting him too.

The wife and I were able to sale a little fire wood a couple days ago and deliver it. Was about a 30 mile round trip.

Too cold to work to day but the old truck has a good heater.

We had some strong wide , snow and thunder last night.

Yes JO …

When I was growing up and go in the feed store and buy a few little items they would ask if you could handle them or need them in a poke.

And of coarse there is the one about the very ugly girl but we shouldn’t go there .
