It was about 150-180 miles a quart by the end but it got that way slowly. I haven’t even cleaned out the truck. I am going to work on another engine and just keep oil in this one to use till i get another one working. That way my truck isn’t down. I just got off the ice truck since 4:30 this morning. I should get some time to work on it tomorrow after a small load of ice to Walmart.
Jakob, I forgot to ask you the other night about your trip across the “MIGHTY MAC” bridge. I’m not sure but you might just be the first to cross the bridge in a wood powered vehicle!
It was fun. It was not as big as I had imagined it would be. We just drove over it made sure to refuel before i went so i wouldn’t run out.
I am curious about a few summary numbers about your trip.
Such as:
Total days, broken down as actual travel or hanging with DOW FOLKS
Total miles
Pounds of wood, I know this is a tough one.
Total miles was 7084 from driveway to driveway.
Wood best i can figure it was right around 10,000 lbs give or take a few hundred. Those numbers are also estimations of what stuff weighed so its not extremely accurate. every time i figured it by a hopper load of wood or two i was getting 1.3 pound per mile. At that rate it would be 9200 lbs I believe that is pretty close to accurate.

I want to truly thank Everyone for all the help and support they gave me on this trip. It might have been possible to do without it but it would have taken another month and a lot more work. I enjoyed my time spent with every one of you. Thank you all.
I have kinda got my pictures sorted so more will be coming when i get a chance.
How did the news paper write up go? Hope the news wire or publishers will pick up on it. Your recording and your documentation is 95 % more than any one else has done and it right here on Wood gas 2020… AGAIN.
It deserves recognition and the best is, there is more can be added. A Great accomplished for you and the team of people for DOW. I was so privileged and glad to be a part of it.
Bob
I went and took pics yesterday we will see what they print.
How about have someone just do a reporter’s view side report. From starting at home across The USA back to the finish line at home as a short documentary video. With shorter video segments and all in order and down to about 20 minutes of video for the whole trip. Then place it on You Tube Under Drive On Wood Documentary, Woodgas 2020…AGAIN! 17 year Jakob North Drives his Dodge Dakota Wood Gasifer Truck Across America and Back Again. People have done these kinds of Documentaries a it goes virtual on the internet. Have you contacted Mother Earth News? They have done this kind of reporting stories before with Wayne and others.
