Try how far I can go on a hopper birch wood, it said 94km when I got home, so around 100km on a hopper.
100 km on a hopper. Perfect👍
1600 rpm at 60 mph - that’s incredibly low rpm
I forget if Jan has an automatic or manual gearbox, but if he has an automatic he likely has some variant of the 4L60e transmissions. 4th gear Overdrive spins the engine at around 1500-1600 at 60mph. I’m sure Chevy’s 5 speed manuals have the same Overdrive gear ratios. 90s and Early 2000s attempts to have a gas sipping overdrive.
It’s an automatic.
Even if the majority of vehicles here are manual, I don’t think I’ve ever seen a manual S10.
So strange, the automatics were rare in a s10 around my area! Basically had to be s10 blazer to see an auto for many many years, all the s10 pickups and s15 GMC a stick shift was 10 times more common
Sorry, I had to check the ads and found to my surprice all the 2.2 4cyl S10s are manual, but the 6cyl S10s are auto.
The best I found was it could be the brace that holds the transmission. if it wiggles at all replace it.
on an automatic, I have had it as the first sign of a failing clutch pack. Sometimes, you can replace part of the tranny fluid and it will start to work right.
Thanks for the tip, but I’ve changed that, I also thought that was the cause.
If it is an all wheel drive, check the u-joints on the driveshaft going to the rear transaxle?
The other easy thing to check is if the handbrake/emergency brake got pulled then got stuck and didn’t fully release. We are a lot flatter around here so no one lubricates the cable and they get stuck.
It’s a front wheel drive Volvo, and the wife uses the handbrake every time she stops.
Maybe I’ll show how I did the filter, thought I’d test how fast it gets tight, but have to buy a bicycle pump first so I can blow out the vacuum hoses.
Hi JanA to find the problem on your Wife’s Volvo reversing you will have to see it under real working conditions.
So now that you tried the easy . . . get extreme . . .
Take the hood off and set aside.
Set up a flat mirror bracket held so you can see down onto the engine while forwards and reverse driving.
Observe the differences in engine torque movements.
If as expected it torque move more reversing, then what is allowing this. Weakened rubber in a mount usually. Cracked rubber only on the one side.
Look for the engine transmission torque twisting. It should not.
Excessive allowed movement is loading in energy that is then releasing. Cycle repeating.
Break this cycle.

I would still check out the brake and lubricate the cable. and beat on the disc rotor with a hammer a few time to make sure it is free. They get stuck and make the car shudder in reverse.
Oops, my weight had fallen down and was on the grid and up through restriction, thought the car was a little different, but thought the filter was getting tight.
Is that your anti-bridging weighted bar for the wood in the hopper? I thought about making one for my hopper when I have a hopper bridge when driving.
Yes, I took your tip Bob, I have made it so I can lift it from the cab, but haven’t had to do it yet.
A guy came up who wanted to talk gengas yesterday, he had a pretty cool electric bike, apparently made in Germany, it topped 45kmh.
I’m thinking back and forth about a hot filter, I’ve made one for the s10,
but is doubtful that the lid will hold tight.
So thinking about making another one. what do you think about this, I have done a test in fabric, to see if it fits and how it looks.
I was thinking of making a frame
in the stainless can 10cm down and hang the filter in.
Then I create an empty space below and above the filter of about 10 cm (4").
Another confirmation that parts for a Chevy small block V-8 are mostly interchangeable with the 4.3 L V-6.
