Ok, thats no good
i have no air valve just because of that reason
i know myself, i was probably born with “alzheimers light”
To prove that: i have actually drove to work, forgetting to put my pants on (just “long-johns”) yes, it’s true

Think I’ll have to buy lemons, so I can get the corners of my mouth down.

Göran, at one point I went to work, opened my locker and started to undress. A co-worker commented I wore wife’s knickers
laces and all

Jan, what kind of thin lid-material is that? Or is it just the paint that let go when the lid inverted?
How did the plastic hayfilter hold up?

The cover is the drive disc for a washing machine.
The upper part is an oil drum that I straightened and tapered, the color remains, biltemas hammer varnish.
The plastic barrel will do, I’ve made an inner barrel out of an oil drum.

Oouuch! That is even worse

Early in the morning I hardly know how to dress, not to mention what to wear. I’ve learnt over the years to put put everything in perfect order the night before, or I can just as well stay home from work.
And don’t talk to me. If I do happen to understand what’s being said, I have no clue what to answer.
I admire those who are up and about and at their best early in the morning.

Yes, it must be a bag of lemons.

This applies to me as well, everything is staged before bed ready for the morning, then muscle memory grab and out the door. The exception is hunting and fishing, i can be up at any time and wide awake with excitement for some reason ready for a long drive to the ocean or climb a mountain. But for work? Coffee. And leave me be for a bit to get my bearings.

old co worker called coffee brain oil, it gets things moving when stuff is cold

When I used to actually sleep more than a few hours at a stretch I was one of those conquer the world morning types. Now I seem to be never actually fully awake or fully asleep but just functioning in an in-between state. Old age isn’t as much fun as advertised. I think the golden years are a bunch of cow pucks

That’s okay guys. On this side of the great pond, it is the same way. I blame it on rotating shift work. The bioclock in our bodies never get settle in to what we are going. I still after years of not working shifts days and nights am still suffering from this. Foggy do head in the morning at times. I have not worked shift work now since 2008.
That was some high vaccum that sucked that lid in. Well Jan it proved one thing, you had no vaccum leaks.
I think Goran, that might be a good idea with no intake valve to foreget to open, but how do you stop the gasifier burning the charbed down to nothing. Does your gasifer self smother itself with smoke and goes out?

Hi Bob, my thoughts behind the “no valve idea” is, if i close the gas outlet (throttle, air valves/ shut-off valve just before engine) no draft is possible, air cant enter if smoke goes out, and the other way around, this has worked well for me, about 5mins of smoke after shut-down, the rest of the smoke “condenses” inside air pipe, making some mess, but no trouble.
In about 2 hours i can re-fire it with the blower.
This demands a 99% air-tight hopper lid thought, otherwise it acts a chimney and keeps smouldering.
Some occasions, with EXTREMELY dry wood, it has kept smouldering over night, but dont burned as much fuel as i suspected.
Also it seems some woodspecies contain more chemical bound oxygen? But it could be something due to moisture content also.
I talked to another woodgas guy some years ago, he also used open air-intake, and he used a 1/2" ball valve at the top of fuel hopper, he left it open just enough to keep the glowing during his workday, so he could just use little gasoline to pull-start it when going home from work. He claimed that up to 12 hours it wasn’t much difference in wood consumption against a re-lighting.

@Woodrunner Göran, can I have this oil in my gearbox?
Thought of sucking out 4 liters and changing.

Hi Jan, i don’t remember the recomdations for s10, but i know i used DXIII (dexron3) in my S10 i had many years ago with no trouble (we had 200liters drum of dx3 at work then/free)
And, ofcourse, no problem using Biltema oils, as many say
, if they have the classification, (dx3/api gl/ sae 5w-40, for examples) they must meet atleast this, no worse oils than others more expensive brands

Yes any Dextron III rated fluid is exactly what you need in your automatic. DEXIII was the formula from the 90s to the 00s.

Does your transmission have a drain bolt? It likely doesn’t, but it’s okay to drain and refill using the bolt if you have it, it won’t drain the entire contents of the transmission. About half of automatic transmission fluid is stored in the passageways and the torque converter.

I don’t have a drain plug. Did you mean someone else??

Often a good idea to repeat the oil change after some driving, to get some more of the “nasties” out of transmission.
Jan, do you have Swedol or LantmĂ€nnen nearby? Cheap dexronIII available in 20 liter cans, (or was cheap last time i’ve bought, about 60kronor/liter, and Swedol has “Swedoldagar” when there are very good prices, sometimes 20%off)
Always good to keep some ATF-oil at home.

Sorry I meant for your S10. Some of the automatics had a drain plug for interval changes.
