a design from my son of a ideal gas washer, vertical with starter bypass and bubble breaker nets
the water level is designed wrong, must be under the horizontal gas intake pipe, otherwise the pipe is full of water that makes more resistance
You are fortunate that your son shares your interests.
today afternoon a test run, but the water chamber is too small, i must modyfie it downwards.
the vertical position is best, when there is space
today afternoon a test run, but the water chamber is too small, i must modyfie it downwards…better is always a vertical filter, when there is space
Giorgio, Acme 550 are quite rare engines, so spare parts are not widely available, I found an offer for an 89.5 mm engine piston from AL480 as well as for a third grinding from fi 88 to 89.5mm, the price is 90 Euro. If it were closer, I could weld the damaged part of the piston and then process it in a lathe,… Greetings Tone
Hi Giorgio
Couldn’t the bubbling occur in the oil rather than the water? Water clogs the intake mixture, while oil lubricates and burns in the engine. ![]()
tone, thank you , but i think with my lathe, what is not so exact more, the eventually inner modifications on the piston, how you have made on your jenbacher, i cannot make…it is not shure if the inner measures are the same.
i think the piston will do it also how he is, for really make the motor new would also occur a cylinder grinding and new bearings at the cranc shaft ecc…and with a new cylinder grinding the piston you found is than too small…but when you have a photo from the offer , it would be interesting to see how much piston rings he have…
thierry , sorry for your eyes you have reported recently…trust in jesus christ and follow his paths, by god all things are possible…
oil bubbler i try to avoid because it makes a mess in the horse hair filter, i like to have systems what i can clean easy with water…i improved my filtering till the point that the intake - mixer valve is clean…more difficult to achieve with only dry filtering, when we speak from charcoal gasifiers…yesterday we made the water chamber bigger, today another test run, but as said, vertical filter is more optimal, because the water can fall down by physical laws
at least a funny vehicle comes out, a seat for lazy farmers, light and versatile for our future seed machine…the bcs seat is excellent with his springs.
in the afternoon some more test run with the bigger water chamber
with the horizontal filter it comes out at least that is best to keep open during run also the starter bypass, so there are less turbulences in the water chamber, a little part of the gas stream goes through the water and keeps the filter medium umid, what gives a better filtering as when it is too dry or dried out during operation by the warm gas…this amount of gas that goes through the water can be regulated with the valve, more close the bypass valve, more gas must go through the water bath…but, as said, vertical filter is easier and more safe in operation…here on the motorcultivator though was no space for it so we used the basement of the former gasoline tank
